The shrine is beautiful and famous for its huge gate at the entrance. Have heard from the locals they believe drinking natural water came from the turtle sculpture there (just nearby the place where people washing their hands and mouths before praying), will give you a healthy life to live longer (like a turtle).

Beautiful example of a Buddhist shrine. The grounds are immaculate as most shrines are. The monks are very friendly. They even have a old koi pond with turtles

This is another one of the many many shrines in Japan. There is not much that makes this different than the many other ones. Nice visit...worth about half an hour. Interesting little town of Tsuruga so makes for a nice walk. Winter is a bear...here....expect snow.
