Stunningly beautiful mosque from the outside. Unfortunately it was not open, even during visiting hours. Wondering if this is due to COVID-19. No signs or indication of why. We managed to get some photos of the outside though. Worth seeing if in the area.

In picture, the mosque looks pretty. In real, it looks glorious! The architecture, the size, the surroundings, very beautiful.

Although it is only for muslims I took a respectful look inside at midday prayer time and I was not made to feel at all unwelcome. The main features are on the outside. This place is stunning and is well worth while seeing.

The mosque is an icon not only to Kuala Kangsar but to Malaysia as well. Built by British architects, it do reflected the more common mosque architecture built around that time. Go there during non-praying time since the parking space is available. Do respect the Muslims attending the pray but ask permission since I'm not sure is it ok for non-Muslim to enter the place or not. The mosque look big from the outside yet the hall is small compared to other mosque I went to and less adorned. But it do command a great view of the river & the town from one of its point. Check out also an abandoned mansion right next to the mosque since it reflect quite a unique architecture of the state.

Worth a visit. The architecture is impressive. It has a surprisingly small prayer hall whilst the exterior appears very bug. Remember it is a place of worship, appropriate attire must be worn and shoes taken off if you are going to enter. Children need to be remind d to stay quiet out of respect for the people praying in the mosque.

wonderful mosque on a hill near city-center of Kuala Kangsa. On the way to Sultan palace. As it is so often in Malaysia, there is no public transport upstairs, one must walk or take a taxi

Ubudiah mosque is a very beautiful mosque, with five minarets and a big golden dome.
Situated in the middle of a large garden, the mosque is very well taken care off, inside and outside.
A kind guardian gave us some clothes so we can enter into the sacred area, till the border of the prayer zone (the border is a blue line on the floor), without shoes obviously.
If you go to Kuala Kangasar don’t miss it!

Ubudiah Mosque which was opened in 1917 is located in royal town of Kuala Kangsar, Perak (which is also my hometown :) lucky me..). I would say it is one of the beautiful mosque in Malaysia with unique octagonal shape compared to others. I was made to understand that it took 4 years to complete the installation of the mosque with imported marbles from oversea.

To visit Ubudiah, it takes about 10 minutes by car from the town centre. It is located near the sultan's castle too. There's another attraction near the castle - Istana Kuning (Yellow Castle), which is and old castle/building that is now being used as the royal museum.

Do take some times to visit Ubudiah. Please wear a proper clothing (which cover your whole body) if you intend to view the interior which is the prayer hall for muslim.

Kuala Kangsar is a very interesting place in between Ipoh and Taiping, well worth visiting for its very nice mosque (surrounded by pretty traditional house), an delicate old wooden palace as well as a few colonial buildings ( school, etc....) and a nice kids garden.
