Do the Ropeway as soon as you arrive on the island to avoid the crowds. Behind the main shrine is a souvenir shop and the man sells genuine Ropeway tickets. He will also show you were to wait for the free shuttle bus if you don't want to walk up the hill to the first Ropeway station. We bought tickets... More

We stumbled upon this attraction as we were walking around and are so glad we did. The views from the top of Mount Misen are fantastic. I would plan 2-3 hours to hike around but if you don't hike and just take in the views you will be amazed. Try and do it on a clear day.

The ropeway (cable car) carries you close to mount Misen top in approx. 15mins with a change of car during the journey. The one-way journey costs 1000 yens. Return journey costs 1800yens. If you don't know whether or not you want to walk down (1.5 hour), you may purchase the return ticket at the top. From there you'll be enjoying... More

This is a must do on Miyajima and is well worth it. Views from the top are spectacular across the inland sea. Also it facilitates an easy route to the top of Mount Missen with its viewing platforms and shrines. It is on 2 stages. Worth thinking about a single ticket up (yen 1,000) and walking back down unless you... More

Took the ropeway up mount misen and it was a very effective way to travel. The ropeway is of an old version compared to other ropeways I visited, but perfectly safe. You will still have to walk apromximately 30 minutes to the top of mount misen from where the ropeway is ending, or you can just take pictures of the... More

It's a little pricey, but it's a great way to get to the top. Especially if you don't have a lot of time or if hiking up would be too difficult. There is still a little bit of a hike from the ropeway to the Mt Misen summit and observatory. The views from the ropeway station are pretty amazing, but... More

The price for adults is 1800 yen return trip. You could also choose to do one way for 1000 yen. The ropeway (gondola) has 2 sections to it, with a transfer in the middle. There is a free shuttle bus that can take you 3 minutes up the hill to the station. The walk, about 8 minutes through the forest... More

We walked from the Five-storied Pagoda. It is a pretty easy, slightly uphill/stairs walk that takes about 15 -20 minutes but has some very picturesque areas along the way. We noticed at the top that you can also catch a shuttle, but the walk was nice. We didn't have to wait long (about 10 minutes) and the ride has some... More

We went up via the ropeway (500 yen each) and then walked down. The views on the way up are great and saves you an hour walking.

The ropeway offers a great way to enjoy the views over the island and Hiroshima. We went in the afternoon and did not have to queue for the tickets or to enter the ropeway. Please be aware that the platform on top of the mountain closes at 4pm in the afternoon so if you decide to do the 30 minutes... More
