Hiking was great and well marked. Lots of rock scrambling which the kids loved. There were so many different areas to explore. Lots of other activities for the whole family. Playground, train rides, etc. The best was the suspension bridge. Views were amazing, especially in the fall.

We liked this privately maintained trails with many activities. In my experience, hiking or running shoes should be required as many areas could be a little steep, rocky, and slippery, especially the trail to the caves.
+ Trails are all nicely color coded, eg, Yellow sign to suspension bridge, blue to caves
+ wide trail, shaded mostly, some slopes
- trails were and slightly challenging but we can see it was quite Difficult for a couple of seniors
+ I loved Nature’s paradise loop in the Blue trail to the caves, it was very tranquil. However, some parts were a little Muddy and could be slippery
+ Enjoy gelato from the gif shop on white lawn chairs
+ Clean restrooms inside the shop
+ Train ride is set up for kids, but we jumped on this easy and mild ride to pretend we are kids again
Tip: Zip line supposed to operate may-Oct, but Not open this year
Tip: Trout pond, spend a quarter to buy some fish food, feed the trouts and ducks, it was a lot of fun and joy

Travel along our terrain, featuring gentle rolling slopes to steep climbs, and expansive, world class views for an adventure suited to your ability. Running shoes or hiking boots are required for entrance to the park.
Glad to hear you made the most of the experience by taking in all the activities. We look forward to welcoming you back again, perhaps in the winter time for some very "cool" adventures out on the forest trails snowshoeing or cross country skiing.

My wife and two boys ages 6 and 8 just finished the two most popular trails in 3 hours taking our time. They included the suspension bridge and scenic caves. It was a time well spent but hard to say money well spent as it was about $140 for the four of us. That’s quite pricey but then again so is everything in this area. We arrived at 9:30am because we were concerned that we’d have to wait to get in (there’s a visitor limit) but we were among the first to arrive. It’s about noon now and the parking lot looks pretty full but there is nobody waiting to get in.

We went there for a day of hiking and enjoyed it thoroughly. We went to the caves trail early (and on a Monday) to avoid crowds. Don't go expecting to be "caving" - this is, rather, a rugged hike through some truly interesting rock formations. They have done a great job installing stairs and handrails, but it is still only for the sure-footed! The temperature drop in the natural refrigerater was amazing. We hiked the suspension bridge and saw the great views. After a packed lunch we hiked some of the back trails and mostly had the place to ourselves. Some wonderful "forest bathing" to be had, as well as more panoramic views. We hiked the "Enchanted Forest" trail. If you are looking for a theme park experience, this is not the place for you. If you enjoy a foest hike with some interesting highlights, you'll have a good day!

It is so beautiful here in the fall! The colors are amazing, the nature so peaceful. This area has hiking trails for all levels (although a couple of the climbs was challenging for this 54 year old "Well rounded" gal lol)

First time at Scenic Caves and right away greeted by friendly staff. Really well signed cross-country ski trails and appreciated the maps every now and then. It was a bit confusing to get to the suspension bridge, but found it eventually. Also did the Lookout Point trail with fabulous views across Georgian Bay. Beautiful. Had a wonderful time and will be back. Thank you!

This was my first time cross country skiing and I had so much fun! I fell about 10 times as it was icy where there were no tracks and even hit my head (2 days later still have goose egg!). It is not for the faint of heart. The lady outside was very patient and helpful to not just myself but others:) I am glad I tried cross country skiing and hope to be back at Scenic Caves!! I am also thankful that there are tracks that you place your skiis in to get about. The challenge is when there are NO tracks!!

Thank you for visiting. We appreciate you sharing your five star review. First time cross country skiing experiences can be a lot of fun, and both rewarding or challenging at times. With 27km of varied terrain available for both classic and skate skiing we have trail levels to match beginner to advanced skiers. Tracks are set when there is sufficient snow depth available. Lessons are a great way to become more comfortable with the sport, and our teachers provide a safe and supportive learning experience. We look forward to seeing you back again.

My wife bought us a $700 couples season membership as a Christmas gift to me last year, but I managed to hurt my back (ultimately having surgery) and we were unable to ski even once. I contacted Scenic Caves to see if they would consider deferring our membership for a year and they not only refused by stating all sales were final, but were so inflexible and unsympathetic that I gave up in frustration. Any business that places so little value on the customer relationship does not deserve to keep its customers. There are many options and other places to cross country ski in Collingwood. I will never return to Scenic Caves.

Currently, adult rate is $26.50 / youth $48.50, therefore your family admission would be $101.50 + hst. Due to COVID-19, credit card payment is required (not cash). Reservations are not required. The busiest time of day is generally between noon and 3pm.

We are planning to visit on one of the weekends now. What other activities can kids / families do apart from walking through the caves / trail ? I meant, are there things like play areas, biking trail, zipline etc. ?

During the warm season, there are so many activities for families with children of all ages. You can hike the trail of caves/caverns/crevasses and nature trails. Hike or ride on the tractor wagon to the 420 ft. Suspension Bridge which offers 10,000 sq. km. views of South Georgian Bay. Hop a ride on Rocky the Train and see lifesized wooden sculptures. Feed the trout at the fish pond. The Children's Adventure Playground is fun for junior and senior aged children. All ages enjoy gemstone mining at the man-made tower as well as playing a round of mini-golf. Older adventurers can pump their adrenaline on the Thunderbird Twin Zipline (ages 10 +/ height/weight restrictions) or reserve a 3-hour Eco Adventure Tour. Admission gives you access for the day, so you can pack a picnic or grab something from the snack bar. There are shady trees and lots of picnic tables. Running/hiking shoes are absolutely required for admission. Enjoy!

I am claustraphobic. Would I be able to bypass the caves on this tour?
Linda Service
Collingwood, Canada
Scenic Caves is a an example of "fissure caves" (not underground caves), best described as a series of chambers, with sculptured cliffs, overhanging rocks, boulders, tight passageways and jig-saw puzzle fractures. There are a few caves that you can go into (Refrigerator Cave and Fat Man's Misery), but you can bypass them. The crevasses/caverns are open.

Unfortunately, there is no direct public transportation service to Scenic Caves.
There is Greyhound bus service to Collingwood from various cities in Ontario. We recommend contacting Greyhound directly for complete details: 1-800-661-8747.
Go transit by bus or train is another option. You may need to route through a neighbouring city like Barrie. They can be reached at: 416-869-3200 Toronto local calling area or 1-888-GET-ON-GO (438-6646).

Chelsea – Because Scenic Caves is located in a nature preserve, there are areas and activities which are not accessible. There are specific details on our website, under the About Scenic Caves > Accessibility tab. If you have further questions we encourage you to call us to discuss them.
Do we have to pay for entrance fee just to access the suspension bridge and what are the operation hours for suspension bridge?thanks!

You do have to pay admission for the bridge. The prices are dictated by the events you will participate in. The hours change depending on the day and so it is best to check with them direct. If it rains and there is lightning they close he bridge so best to go on a sunny day.
