It's well worth taking the commuter ferry over to Cacilhas to see the impressive Cristo Rei monument. Return trip from Cais do Sodre is 3 euros. The ferry journey takes about 10 minutes. Once you dock at Cacilhas get the 101 bus that stops right at the ferry terminal. A fee of 1.45 euros will take you right to the... More

Even when you only can access thought a hidden elevator it worth the effort to get up. The panoramic over the river and Lisbon town is amazing! You can see both long bridges (Vasco de Gama & 25 April) as well as the coast villages (Cascais and the neighborhood). You can go with young children since the terrace is well... More

Amazing place to visit. Despite the lift being repaired, the statue being cleaned and no access to the top it was still well worth the visit. A very thoughtful and reflective place. The paintings in the chapel are stunning and thought provoking. Also beautiful view across to Lisbon. Not even the huge banner on the top of statue advertising the... More

I have visited the monument today and it is joy to behold. There are excellent views across the Tagus to Lisbon highlighting the many and varied colours of the buildings. You can also get a closeup look at the 25th April Bridge. It is a perfect place to sit and reflect on all things and worth the trip across from... More

From Lisbon to Cacilhas, take a ferry in Cais do Sodre (every 20 min), then either take a bike (approx 2o min ride), a walk or a bus (for the first options you can take a lift if it is working). If the sky is clear, nice view on the 25th of april bridge and Lisbon.

We got up early, took the ferry from Cais do Sodré to Cacilhas, and then a bus to Cristo Rei. It was worth the price and the time to get there. The hardest part was the bus ride. Since it is not a Lisbon bus, you have to buy the ticket from the driver. Our driver on the way up... More

We visited the site yesterday and were completely amazed. Unfortunately the elevator is still under repair so we could get up to the highest viewing point. The elevator is supposed to reopen on 01 April 17. The views of Lisbon from the site are excellent and the suspension bridge is very impressive. Certainly worth a vist!

This is an easy trip from Lisbon. Catch the ferry from Cais de Sodre to Cacilhas (Euros 3.00 return), then the 101 bus to the Cristo Rei terminus (Euros 1.45 single - no return tickets). The area surrounding the statue looked well used and was in need of some TLC when we visited. Also, the lift from the ground to... More

Visited this place as part of the city tour. The statue of Jesus is huge. There are also crosses with interesting images. This place also offers a nice view of the bridge and Lisbon. Worth visiting.

Unfortunately it was foggy when we went and we couldn't see the statue clearly. Still beautiful none the less. We were still able to enjoy the surrounding.
