This Cristo Rey was built after the Cristo Redentor in Rio de Janeiro (interesting fact for one would think Portugal's Cristo should have been built first). It is beautiful and the location views are outstanding. Make sure to go inside and see the chapel and the paintings exhibit--I found the paintings and their explanations amazingly beautiful. They have an elevator... More

There are many places in Lisbon that I can visit, Christo Rei of course one of them. But you should know that besides pretty nice view there nothing to see. If you have tie schedule it's not worth to spend time there

Although it takes some effort to get to this is well worth the visit. You will need to catch the Cais do Sodré ferry terminal near the centre of Lisbon and catch the ferry to Cacilhas which will cost €3.00 for a return ticket. At Cacilhas right next to where you disembark the ferry is the bus station where you... More

I felt happy here. The monument is amazing and it perfectly gives the idea of the love of Christ :) You can get on top with an elevator at a good price to enjoy both the view of the statue and of the panorama. On the ground area, you can take amazing pictures of the skyline of Lisbon and of... More

If you're traveling here by yourself in car, as big as the statue is, it's not that easy to find the actual location. It's not well sign posted as a main attraction or place of interest but once you get to the church you know you've arrived. Not driving? There are lots of tour guides in little buggy cars and... for me it was very important to personally meet The National Shrine of Christ the King, known simply as Christ the King is one of the most famous religious monuments of Portugal. It is on the south bank of the Tagus, on the site of Pragal, near the Ponte 25 de Abril, in Almada parish belonging to the municipality of... More

It's not the first thing to think about doing in Lisbon. It's a little far (ferry and bus) but it's worth it. The steps are really small and the elevator is always full. But when ur upstairs eventually, the view is great. You can see both bridges and the city of Lisbon.

Cristo Rei strikes you even before you enter Lisbon as the plane approaches for landing. We managed to visit it just before returning to the airport after a hectic business trip. It was well worth the efforts and the anxious moments that we had for reaching the airport in time.

This statue is incredibly big. It is a place you need to visit if you go to Lisbon and the best part of it is the view! The access if free, you just need to pay if you wanna go up to the statue.
