It is counted as one of the "Three Views of Japan." It's a natural formation of sand bridge, and best viewed from one of the two vantage points (two viewing points, each across the bay from each other). I ended up viewing from both (crossed the bay on a cruise boat). You are meant to see it through between your... More

One of Japan's three scenic view, a very interesting natural phenomena with different options to enjoy. It's possible to fully see it, and enjoy it's beauty from a mountain next to it, walk or cycle through it, or enjoy the beach on it with swimming and even have a BBQ on it.

One of the best view over the sea in Japan. In summertime, take time to bath in the sea on these wonderful sand beaches of 3.6 km long in the bay.

The way to explore the sandbar is to hire a bike for ¥500 each from one of the shops along the way and ride away. Though it was a hot summer's day, the constant breeze and the shady path made cycling a joy. The bike allowed for speed, but it also gave the rider the freedom to stop and take... More

We visited on a clear day in June, the view was breath-taking from the top, the cable-chair ride was exhilarating, and the observation deck and a variety of activities at the top were relaxing. Could not visit the sand-bar. It definitely justifies its designation as one of the three most scenic spots in Japan.

The train ride (from Kyoto) Fukuchiyama to Amanohashidate is very interesting and something to remember for long. The people at the hashidate station were very nice and helpful. Its a great place to do a morning evening but i think spedning a night there could be a great idea. The ride/ walk / cycling from the mainland to the other... More

We went there by car driving from Osaka. We walked over the sand bar and then take the cable car to the mountain. To enjoy the view we put the head between legs upside down. It is unique and spectacular view.

This must be one of the most beautiful natural treasures of Japan but during the rainy days of June this is the most depressive place I have visited. The amusement park was sad, the town was dead, there was simply nothing to do since the beach was dirty. Yes dirty! I haven't seen dirt on the streets anywhere in Japan... More

This place is at a 2 to 3 hour train ride from Kyoto. This place has the sandbar (one of Japan's three scenic views). There is not much to do around except the sandbar view, so only go if you have a day to spare. Weather was very good though.

A very good experience here. Took the train from Fukuchiyama to Amanohashidate station which is where I paid Y1600 for the Amanohashidate foreigners pass which included the train ride, tour boat, cable car up the mountain, lift down the mountain, and bicyle for two hours. A great view from the mountain, and exhilerating experience riding the bicycle across the sand... More
