A bit overrated, but . . .

The cave really only has a few areas where you can see the depth of the crystalline clear water. The stalactite formations aren't that impressive. As with most of these cave... read more

This cave is so interesting! Bring a GOOD jacket and get ready for wandering through this underground treasure trove. My friends walked quicker then I would have alone, I could have stayed longer! I only saw one tiny fish the whole time, I know I could have found more with time. Bring closed-toed shoes. The park area around the cave... More

Inazumi Underwater Cave started over 300 million years ago, the cave formation began 300,000 years ago, and around 85,000 years ago the cave was submerged by the major eruption of Mt.Aso. We went to Inazumi underwater cave expecting an underwater cave...and we got a whole lot more! After paying the 1000yen entry (reduced from 1200yen because we were given coupons at the nearby Harajiki waterfall area), we walked straight through to the cave area. We wandered through all the paths for around an hour. There are some great views and the... More

The cave really only has a few areas where you can see the depth of the crystalline clear water. The stalactite formations aren't that impressive. As with most of these cave attractions, they need to 'tack on' attractions extraneous to the cave. Inazumi is no different. There are two museums with an incredible collection of old memorabilia and trinkets and... More

we visited the caves on 11th October 2010. We started off from Oita where we stayed the night. We traveled along scary narrow mountain roads as our vehicle navigator guided through. I would not recommend any one to take the route that we went.It was due to my mistake as I have set the navigator to "shortest distance". It took... More
