This is a privately supported temple, so there isn't the scrubbed-clean feeling... More

Wonderful time here. Beautiful temple and grounds. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area. Friendly, quiet, and serene temple. Would love to stay at this temple if possible.

Futagoji temple is set in beautiful ground. The trees provide great shade and some nice little paths to wander around in. All the different shades of green is speculator, climb every set of stairs you see as it always leads to some hidden scene. I did this on the same day as the Kumano magaibutsu (stone Buddha) and Fukiji temple.... More

We went on a weekday and there were very few people. It felt like we had the temple all to our selves. There was only... More

This is a beautiful temple. I arrived with friends at 10am so we could write "sutra" together. The head monk gave a lovely introduction to me in English (he lived in the U.S. for 3 years!). Seiza is very difficult to sit in for long (even my local friends struggled), but our experience was overall very positive. After our writing... More

This was the last stop on our Kunasaki Peninsula bus tour. After Magaibutsu we made a complicated climb over, around and through (quite literally – there were at least two tunnels) Mt Futago, the central peak of the peninsula, to Futagoji. We paused for a few photos at the Zaizen bochi cemetery. Eventually we were deposited at a walkway to... More
