If you have a chance to visit Lake Biwa in Takashima, Shirahige Jinja Shrine is another place you should see!! At 5 am - 6 am, by the time of sunrise, you may see the sun rise between the shrine. The photo taken is terrific!!!

This shrine is a magical place and an interesting subject for photographers. It is difficult to get to though. I took the train to Omitakashima station and walked about half an hour using my GPS. You will walk first walk through a small town then along a major highway. Once you get to the shrine you will have little competition... More

It's a strange place: First - it's just next to main road and there is no pedestrian crossing around. Second - to get there you have to take a taxi for around 1100 yen (one way) - remember to take a phone number (they are prepared) and when you want to go back you have to give number to gift... More
