You take a cable car up to the top and you have a stunning view of the city. Be sure to not leave it too late because we went after 10pm and all of the souvenir shops had closed. The queue for the returning cable car was long, it's like more people are going down than ever came up. I... More

Chose to walk along the trail rather than taking the funicular. As it was mid-December rather cold, we didn't encounter any other walkers up the mountain although perhaps people attempt it earlier in the day. Pleasant walk but very crowded with tourists up at the peak. Well worth the view!

Im not really hiking actually. Went to Mt Hakodate for enjoying the city from top by using cable car ropeway. Its a pleasant place, seeing the city from top, best time here during sunset time. The cable car ride up to the top of Mt. Hakodate is brief and very pleasant. Once to the top the view of the city below and harbor is great.
