Wester-Amstel: Country House and Park Since 1662 is a piece of serenity located just a bike ride away from Amsterdam. It's located on the banks of the Amstel River and at the last riverbend before Ouderkerk. Wester-Amstel is the perfect destination to escape the city and venture into the surrounding countryside. Our house, park and gardens are enriched by four centuries of history. We highly recommend our audio tour (available in English and Dutch). It will take you on a wonderful stroll through our estate and entertain you with stories of times long past. The benches and picnic spots will give you the perfect excuse to just sit back and relax. The back of the house hosts art exhibitions, and is open most Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. A very quiet and serene garden, on the banks on the Amstel. With many interesting things to see. A lovely old house, once owned by the Mayor of Amsterdam as a summer retreat. The gardens still show how it once was, with a herb and...More

A tranquil oasis close to Amsterdam. An unpretentious, hidden gem where I just walked around and enjoyed nature to process my impressions of Amsterdam.

Thank you, Ilse. Funnily enough, many visitors and even volunteers tell us they love imagining being the landlord or the lady of the house. This is indeed the perfect place to dream away and forget about everyday worries...

There are hardly any country houses remaining at the Amstel, the historic river running through Amsterdam and to which the city owns it's name. So this is really a place to visit. Because of the typical Dutch architecture of the building but even more for...More
