This is a very impressive and beautiful vantage point where excellent photographs can be taken of the rocky formations and El Teide volcano itself. The landscape can be observed at almost three-thousand metres high and is one of the more popular places for hikers and drivers to stop off at. It’s not far from the Park Gifts & Merchandise ship and has plenty of parking.
Make sure your footing is secure as you make your way towards the oddly shaped trio of rocks as it’s a bit of a clamber!

Spectacular rock formations at the footsteps of Teide volcano. In good weather views may be jawdropping - especially with the Teide peak in snow. You can go on a loop trail. It's not very difficult, but may be windy at some points, so bring appropriate clothes.

The whole Teide National part is a must visit in Tenerife and would say the pinnacle of the island.
Los Roques de Garcia walk is a pretty easy hour to hour and a half walk through amazing volcanic sites.
After that we took the cable car to Teide and climbed to the summit (need special permit) which made the whole day a superb experience in this amazing natural site

This hike took about 2 hours at a fairly leisurely pace. Lots of people, but it was a friendly, international crowd. Too bad there are no toilets of any kind, so tourists and hikers leave toilet tissue everywhere. And, very limited parking. Too bad the national park hasn't figured out a tram system that runs constantly so people can park at some big parking lot several miles away.

Los Roques de Garcia are a collection of volcanic rock formations in the Mount Teide National Park, located close to the cablecar station that runs up to the peak of Teide. We stopped there as part of a coach trip around the national park during a cruise ship visit. There are various walks and hikes you can do from here and there is car parking (free) right next to the main rock formations. I took the time to climb some of the paths nearby to get some elevated shots of the surroundings. It's well worth a visit if spending time in the National Park.

Fantastic rocks! Very atmospheric, and unlike anything we'd ever seen before. It's like being on a different planet. And free to visit, which is a bonus! We came back a second time after sunset to see the stars from here, which is well worth doing - absolutely amazing on a clear night.

Roques de Garcia are volcanic rock formations under the Pico de Teide volcano at an altitude of about 2000 m above sea level. The most famous is Roque Cinchado (God's finger), it reminds me of a huge morel. It is worth stopping here for a while, the formations are really impressive. Parking is right next to the rocks for free.

Afraid to say that we did not do the hiking trail around the Roques, but just stopped at the roadside to admire them and the way they dominate the surrounding landscape in a brooding fashion. They are quite awesome in their craggy sculptural form and make us mere mortals feel quite insignificant. The car park itself was stowed in a most haphazard way, which put us off trying to find a parking space there. It is worthwhile to try and perceive them from both directions for different viewpoints, and they look very moody & dramatic at sunset.

We hiked the Roques de Garcia Trail in March. it was surprisingly busy, considering it was a nondescript wednesdayin mid-March. So much, actually, that we had to park at the cafeteria in front, and still had to wait 15 minutes before a parking spot was available.
The trail is well marked (nr, 3) but it's a loop, so you have to decide where to start from. We had some troubles as the trail was marked in both directions. Luckily, we picked the "right one" of course there is no right entrance in a loop, but I suggest you start it from the steep staricase beneath the panoramic terrace, as this would be a nightmare if you had to climb it at the end of the loop. The trail still brings you down to the bottom of the valley, but the way up is much smoother at the other end.
That said: the trail is amazing. The rocks bear a certain resemblance the the western American landscapes of Utah and Arizona, it reminded me of Zion NP.
The rocky formations are huge and awestrucking, and the landscape changes at every step, making you want to sto for pictures every other second. Stay on the marked trail and walk beneath the biggest of the rocks, then climb bac through colorfu and curious formations, to end with a stunning view of the Teide.
This is a medium difficulty trail, about 4 km.

You can not go to Tenerife without visiting the national park. It is amazing with many variations in shapes and colors (it is on the UNESCO world heritage list).
There are plenty of car stops along the TF21 route to stop, take pictures and even take a 10 min walks around. But be very careful: there are thieves around the area, so do not leave anything in the car, otherwise it will get stolen (as ours did)!

We will be visiting by public bus which I think gets to the Parador at 11 and then leaves at 4pm since the circular walk will not take all of our time any other suggestions?

You can extended your walk if you choose and also there is the café to sit, read and chill in. Time will fly. Enjoy!

We have a hire car, can we just turn up any day and park and have a wander around the rocks at our own leisure?
Thanks

Hello,
We are planning to go hike arround Roques de Garcia on 04.February. That is Monday, and I've read that it's not allowed to do the whole circle around the Rogues de Garcia on Mondays (and some other days).
Is that true? Which part of the trek is opened?
Thank you!
