Being a backpacker, brown bears are not a creature that one sees close up...at least one hopes not. Soooo, it was incredible to see a brown bear that close up. They are inches from you behind a mirrored, plexiglass barrier and it is an amazing...More

We stopped by the place as we were in the area. Our visit took about 1 hr by self walk on the observation bridge. Great experience to be able to observe the bears so closely especially when they one to the little pond for some...More

We decided to go to Bear Mountain after having seen only 1 brown bear on our Brown Bear Cruise at Shiretoko National Park. The bus driver/guide provided good information and ensured we had as much information in English as possible and spoke to us 1:1...More

The promise of this site is quite considerable. I thought it might be worth checking it out as it was only a short detour off our route. I hoped to see bears behaving naturally in their natural environment, albeit in a large enclosure, but surely...More

You can take the walking path to view the bears. They provide binoculars and umbrella incase it rains. Do not think that the bus is worth paying so much and you may not get to see the bears close up. The main attraction is the...More

Although part of group tour itinerary, its worth a visit. There are several species kept here. Seeing the bear responses to feeds and food. in the open den was quite entertaining. Some bears kept in the smaller cages looked pitiful though.
