The complimentary whisky tasting was very civilised - drivers can enjoy tea and mineral water instead. The guided tours are only available in Japanese, but we enjoyed wandering around ourselves with the English brochure and watching the videos. Reasonable prices at the gift shop.

The nikka whiskey tasting room was excellent. You can taste about 20 nikka whiskeys for about 5000 yen, plus 2 free whiskeys. It was a fantastic place to go. So many whiskeys you cannot buy elsewhere too. please note: The nikka whiskey tour (and audio guide) was not good - there were not many english translations. If you want to... More

We visited here as part of a tour group. We had a tour guide with us, but if you follow the advised route you find plenty of information at each stop by way of a video that is programmed to different languages. Short and informative. At the end of the tour you can have a tasting of some of the... More

My son took me to the Nikka Whisky distillery for a birthday present on my last trip to Japan. We took the train from Sapporo and that in itself was really interesting. I loved the apple wine we had at the tasting station. Hoping my son brings me a bottle next time he comes back to OZ. The Whisky fudge... More

We did not get to go on the free tour as we did not pre-book and the tours (every 30mins) are all full. Nevertheless we can walk around on our own and tried the free sample tasting. 3kinds (apple wine, single malt and blended whisky). Do note that they cant do duty free thus the price is similar to town... More

Tours are conducted in japanese but you can borrow a headset in different languages for free if you have made reservation for the tour. can still walk around by yourselves, some boards have english on. Free... More

Loved this place. Really well preserved and great displays. There are two tasting areas, one paid and the other free. The paid section allows you to choose which whiskeys you'd like to try, the free area provides 3 picked samples. There is a restaurant as well but we had already had lunch. You do have to walk around outside so... More

It was a cold and windy day when i arrived and all the day tours for the day was allocated to cater to Japanese customers. The front desk operator however told me that it is still possible to make a tour around the vicinity if I can use the brochure as a guide which I took. The entire place took... More

It is a bit far from Sapporo, if you have a car (with a designated driver) or can combine with a trip to Otaru, would be worth it, depends on how much you like Nikka whiskey. For me, worth it. Go straight to the paid tasting, still pretty reasonable, they have a lot of distillery exclusives. They make great souvenirs... More
