Already reviewed the online ticket system so now for the trip. All arrangements, Porto to Regua worked well. Easy boarding process. Only tip is seat selection. Carriages 1 and 2 have padded seats (old first class I suspect) above seat number 32. Stop at Pinhao...More

As with many Portugese towns the old stations are quite ornate with tiled scenes, relating to the area, both inside and out. We did not coincide with the steam train but seeing the station was a pleasure in itself.

The line was closed for renovation in 2009. Due to budget cuts I believe it was never reopened.

In 2017 the historic train schedule begins in june 3rd until oct 29th (saturdays/sundays) and the train also runs in wednesdays in august (2nd to the 30th). You can see more information at the site of Comboios de Portugal.
