We visited during winter but the ranger were still able to take us in the boat for a two hour ride. Very professional and although his English is very poor he has a great personality. Even gave my daughter a chance to steer the boat. Fantastic scenery on the waterways and we stopped twice. Once at the lookout tower and then again at the picnic area. Toilet facilities available. The ride cost us 100 lari for three people and is well worth the price. We also saw the parks stunning wild horses.
Really an amazing exoerience.

I booked this ride with three friends and it was definitely the highlight of our trip to Poti! A beautiful smooth motorboat ride through Geogia's "Amazon". At one point, we stopped and just listened to all the sounds in the "bog" - then calmly glided through overhanging branches. Big shout out to Medea for her graciousness and assistance, and to Gela for his excellent driving skills and friendliness. Didi Madloba

Friends took me to the National Park on a motor boat, passing through Lake Palastome and the canals which featured exotic plants, abundant birdwatching, and a feel of "Indiana Jones" until we reached a picnic place with a fire pit, where we grilled svati and enjoyed a meal in one of the two pavilions that provide protection from the elements. Beautiful way to enjoy an afternoon! Watch out for mosquitos! Definitely ask the locals for advice on places to hire a boat as the experience is not accessible without.

We walked along the lake not far from the hotel and enjoyed peaceful water with many frogs jumping into it. We could admire mountains covered with snow and it was very relaxing.

Is second half of October a good time to see plenty of birds? What are the best hours?
Written July 22, 2018
I'm not sure October is the best time to see plenty of birds. I can't say I'm an expert on Kolkheti National Park as we didn't see much of it but we were surprised not seeing any birds on Paliastomi Lake which is part of the park. We cruised around the lake for 1-2 hours and we didn't see any. We could hear many little birds in the forest but it was in April when birds are looking for partners. I'm afraid you may be disappointed in October as we were disappointed in April.

We have a free day in Batumi on October 18th. How do I go about making plans to take a boat trip on the lake, canals and into the National Park in Poti? Is this a good time to see the bird migration?
