Great place
May 2019
Ask for a mixed selection of meats and cheeses, sit outside and sip a beer. Great way to pass some time and lovely tastes.

A favourite place of mine to eat jamon and drink some wine
Sep. 2017 • Friends
Hidden away from the main square, reached by walking down a narrow street with an acequia running down the middle.
Crammed with local produce, health foods and potions downstairs, there is a upper floor devoted to mainly Moroccan goods. Amazing range of chimes, bells and other noisy things. Lamps, shades old keys.. you name it you will find it.

Gastronomic treasure trove

Don't be afraid of going into this shop. At first you can't be sure if it's a cafe or a shop. It's both. They sell wonderful Spanish produce. They also have a beautiful little sitting area balanced at the side of the street with the river running down the middle. We had a couple of glasses of wine accompanied by truly delicious tapas. All ingredients for sale in the shop. Wish I lived next door to this place!

Great bar to hang out in...

We had a beer here and look around the shop...it's fantastic. It was a pity we had a strict weight limit for our return flight or else I would have bought up the shop.

Ali-Baba's cave

The street going to it has a small stream flowing in the middle, some balconies actually cover the street. The shop is amazing: orthodox icons next to Buddhist gods between Arab lamps.

Amazing shop
Sep. 2016 • Couples
What an amazing little shop, beats shopping in Tesco anyday. A place with real character, hams hanging from the ceiling, shelves crammed with fantastic products which you could never buy in a supermarket. It was worth the hour drive just to go in this one amazing shop.

To find it go to Main Sq & Church. If you were stood in front of the church door look down to the left hand corner of the square. See a narrow street going down hill, with water running down the middle and a cobblestone narrow pavement on either side. Bodega la Moralea is down this street on your right.

A wealth of regional produce
Sep. 2016 • Friends
Superb gastro range of hams, cheeses and pates. A selection of wines. Can sample the produce. Tapas available with drinks at the bar on high stools. Beautiful Bodega layout. Inspiring for photographers. Need at least an hour. Bring your wallet. Good to stock up on salamis to bring back as gifts despite being somewhat heavy! Highly recommended.

Favourite shop!!!
Jul. 2016 • Couples
This is an amazing place - brilliant for a beer or a glass of home made wine and tapas. Lots of delicious food to purchase, gift ware, toiletries. We visited several times and the place just has the most magical feel to it. Not to be missed!!!!!

Food shop, arty shop, tapas bar, good at all. If nearby don't miss it!
May 2016 • Couples
If in the area be sure to find this treasure: from the main square by the church follow the flowing water downhill, then up three steps to the right to this lovely shop.

Wine: excellent, try the local Fuente Victoria Syrah at some low price, but a delight to drink.
Coffee: I think they only have the one sort, but it's lovely.
Cheese: my favourite is añejo ovejo de Alpujarra (local mature sheep's cheese), ask the friendly staff for advice if you want something with less bite
Olive oil: they do a lovely organic (ecologico) extra virgin olive oil in 500ml bottle with a nice pourer.
Beer: I find the local bottled beer a bit disappointing, but that's not the fault of La Bodega.
Jamón: get some sliced off the leg behind the bar and enjoy with a glass of wine!
Upstairs: fairly usual selection of lamp shades and plates, but some nice things.

All in all, well worth a visit!

(I come here every few weeks, just never thought to review it before).

Great Alpujarras shop with lots of lovely local food and drink with tasters
Feb. 2016 • Friends
Great Alpujarras shop with lots of lovely local food and drink with tasters, a few yards up an alley from the main route.
No pressure just like a friend telling you about an interest of theirs.
