Given my desire to see everything Easter Island had to offer, this was of course a must see. This is the home of the red hats. I would recommend seeing this quarry.

This is the place where they fabricated the hats for moai statues. The hats are scattered around the place

There are several other more spectacular sites with the Moai statues, but this is a quick side trip to see where the stone hats were made for them. Just do it, and be gald you did.

Visit as part of a tour of the moai on the island to see the quarry where the red rock top knots were made, and many still remain.

Enjoyed a short stop here on our tour. It is included on a half day multi-stop Tour. Puna Pau is a small extinct volcano whose name means “dry spring “

We visited Puna Pau where the Pukai were quarried These were the Topknots or head coverings made in red scoria for the Moai Still a mystery but that’s the beauty of Easter Island Worth including in a tour of the island
