What a beautiful site this National Park! Unfortunately it is a little under-staffed and one of the main trail was closed. The reason: a tree fell on the trail... To me its a bit stupid as you only have to walk over it or around it. Anyway the park itself has a lot of beautiful mountains on the river and is worth the trip. Warning: You must buy your ticket online in advance (which we did) but make sure that you have the bar code to open the gates as there are no attendant. The invoice you get with the email confirming your purchase does not have that code so make sure you have it in advance as there is no or limited cellular reception and you may not be able to get it off your phone.

We were there in October, off season. Given the “breathtaking” description, we chose the Wolf hike. Arriving at 10 a.m., we walked single-file almost the whole way. Not being a loop, you have to constantly push yourself to let walkers going in the wrong direction pass. The hike itself is in the undergrowth the whole time, so nothing exceptional in itself. Certainly the 2 points of view are nice, but crowded with people. For me this trail is nothing breathtaking. And we were too tired to try another one.

I chose Les Loups trail for it's difficulty and view points and I wasn't disappointed. Driving from the entrance to the starting point of the trail may be long, but the view is beautiful with the tall mountains and the winding river. There is ample parking however, looking for the entrance at the starting point was a little tricky. The path is well paved and not too rocky. There are a lot of steep sections but they aren't too long. The first view point takes about 45 minutes to get to and is beautiful. I kept going for the 2nd viewpoint and this trail was longer than expected. There are a few tricky parts but slow and steady got me to the top for a breathtaking view. The whole trail took me about 4hrs including rest. It really tested my endurance. Definitely will return to try out the other trails. Note that there are sections with limited cell phone signal if you want to send updates of your hike, important when hiking solo.

As we entered the park, there was a massive lineup to get into it. After all, it was a long weekend. We arrived at around 9 am, and the parking lot for L'Eperon trail is already at capacity. Understandably, the iconic views from that trail are drop dead gorgeous. In that trail, the viewpoints are on the left side of the fork. While steep, it is worth it at the top. Sepaq's brochure advertised it to be 2.25 hours long but we took at least 3 because we couldn't stop taking pictures.
The visitor centre has full services as well as a gorgeous beach and a bridge containing a beautiful viewpoint as well. We wanted to explore more but we had to go back to Ontario at that time so it's cut short. Maybe next time!

My partner and i stayed in one of the campings for 2 nights. Loved the national park, hiking and the peace in there. Camping sites are big and separate enough between each other for a little privacy. We will come back for sure.

It’s one of the nicest park I’ve visited in Quebec. More or less 3h30 from Montreal, this park brings you beautiful mountains views, long river and many trails to hike. Trails are easy to access as it’s well indicated (once you know which trail you want to hike, find the KM sign that has the starting point of your trail). Parking is available near each trail starting point. We’ve done the Sentier des Loups, which is more or less 10 KM round trip. Very demanding but worth every second for the two points of view. Took us about 5 hours the entire hike (stopped at each point of view and ate all the way at the top). I would go back in a heat beat.
Enjoy:)
Enjoy:)

We went for a drive today and ended up in Jacques-Cartier National Park. Despite the name, this is a Quebec park, not a Federal one.
The gate was unstaffed and we were able to drive in without paying (an advantage to Nov. 3rd, I suppose). However the information centre and store were open, as were the washrooms.
We had a beautiful drive through the park and a couple of very short hikes, mostly for photography. It was a beautiful, sunny day with the temperature varying from 2 to 5 degrees Celcius. I would have loved to go for a longer hike but my wife wasn't up to it today, so we opted not to do so.
The downside of November is that the deciduous trees had lost their leaves. I'm sure that the colour would have been wonderful 3 weeks ago.

Superb site where you can hike from 1h to 6h (your choice), rent boats (paddleboard, kayak single or double, ..), attend conferences or buy souvenirs. Paying for adults but free for minors. Many parking spaces.

We were visiting Quebec City and decided to go snowshoeing. Took a drive to Jacques-Cartier Parc and it was beautiful! We did an easy trail, about an hour and a half with a lot of stopping to take pictures. It was really that beautiful.

Loved this park! Plenty of trails to choose from and there is one for every ability level. We rented kayaks for a few hours and really enjoyed that experience. Rental process was quick and easy. Just the drive through the park alone is nice. Very relaxing place, never felt crowded.

Hello, I am going solo for first time ever on a hike to jacques carter national park. I plan to do only easy trails. Would it be okay or it will be risky? Also, i am not quite good at reading maps. Are the trails route marked ?appreciate your feedback. Thank you.

Love the trail system – when does it normally open for the season for cross country skiing? Before Christmas?

Hello, is the park generally suitable for toddlers? We will be visiting in the summer with our son (2.5yrs old). Are there activities and park areas suitable for him? Are the easy trails ok for strollers?
Thanks!

Hello!
We will be at Quebec City for four nights and we would like to go for a day at the Jacques-Cartier National Park. We like trekking so I checked the trails there and looks like Le Scotora is very beautiful. My question is for the people who did this trail or other in the park...should we necessarily wear trekking shoes? As our visit to Canada is mainly cities this time and trekking shoes/boots occupy much space in our luggage we are thinking of not taking them with us but instead we take with us comfortable athletic shoes. Is the terrain so bad that trekking shoes are necessary or we could walk Le Scotora or other trails at Jacques-Cartier wearing athletic shoes? Your answer would be very helpful. Thanks!

Are trails are stroller friendly? If not, which trails would be easy and fun for with a toddler? Thank you!
Written August 18, 2018
We did not actually walk the trails but from what we saw at trailheads, I would not think a stroller would work at all. Even the driving roads got pretty rough at times.
