If your town is perched on the top of a rocky crag, where do you bury your loved ones? There is no soft soil, so you have to create a cemetery which goes upwards and creates a white-painted facility which is also space-efficient, while creating...More

Situated on the highest point in Casares is the cemetery. Normally when I have visited a cemetery it consists of graves and people buried in the ground. Here there are long thick walls and individuals are placed in the walls. Interesting........ local culture.

If you are in Casares and you have climbed to the top, make sure you take a short stroll around the cemetery there which is very colourful. Beautiful views from the walls outside into the valley below.

You wouldnt normally recommend looking round a cemetery but this is exceptional. Set high up on the cliffs its in a stunning setting. Its extremely beautiful and moving seeing all the love and attention lavished on the individual plots which are wset into the walls

Not that anyone ever wants to die, but if you could pick a cemetery to have your remains left you really couldn't ask for a better place, its absolutely stunning, well worth a walk round.

The marble crypts are immaculate and were full of flowers when we visited. The cemetery is located at the absolute top of the hill with wonderful views. In use today so be respectful. Reading the dates would interest both history lovers and children. And you...More

This cemetery is beautiful, quiet and quaint. It is at the top of the old town and the walk up to it was very enjoyable.

Opposite the Moorish castle perched high above the town is this lovely cemetery, well kept and like other Mediterranean cemeteries has a mixture of artificial and fresh flowers. There is evidence of someone working there on a daily basis, most graves have a photo of...More
