This site is more than just the tomb of Cyrus the Great, although that is of course of major historical significance. His tomb is simple and probably because of this impressive. There are another 9 remains elements to the site including a caravanserai, Palaces, Garden, hall and a tower. When we were there in Oct 2016 there was active, small... More

It's the Cyrus Tomb, a very great and phenomenal place to visit. Just don't miss this place. This place is near Shiraz so I visited it on my way from Yazd to Shiraz

I am regreted that I didn't pay attention when I was in Pasargadae. After I return to my country, and I study the history about this place, then i know it is the first King of the Persian Empire. The tomb itself is simple but is historical. I highly recommend you read book of it, watch DVD or hire a... More

there is not much left to see but after seeing the DVD (sold everywhere) and animations you better appreciate what you are seeing. this is the large site where gardens were set up along the river which were watered by elaborate system of canals, still visible in places

I loved this lonely windswept utterly stripped down tomb. As it should be, the rocks remain and the rest has been carried off even before Alexander the Great. Wait, here in Persia Alexander is only known as Alexander, it's Cyrus that is called Cyrus the Great.

Pasargadae would have more relevance to domestic tourists but we were returning from an overnight village stay & this was a good place to break our drive. Helped by our knowledgeable guide/driver who explained the history of this site which covers a large area but seems to have limited structures remaining - makes sense when you know the history.
