We drove an hour from the coast to see this fortress that was originally built between 1-3 AD and was in use until the mid 1800's. There's parking outside the entrance but the walk in is rocky. Even if you don't walk to the top of the fortress, do walk through the gates to get a good idea of what... More

When we arrived at the fortress it was extremely foggy and we couldent see anything. Fortunatly the fog lifted and the view was breathtakingly beautifull. I recommend going to the fortress when you are near Belogradchik. It is definitly worth it!

Beautiful scenery with a fortress on the rocks. Worth a visit. Came here with a guide and had a nice time hiking up the fort and the surrounding area. Look for the old soviet cinema nearby.

The Belogradchick fort wouldn't be anything interesting if it wasn't that the former besieged used the sharp rock landscape as part of the defence. The combination still shows that it was almost an impossible stronghold to be taken. Still, in the end, even Belogradchick fell.

What a magnificent sight this fortress of the past. The area is 1 hour away from the town of Vidin and has fascinating history with mesmerising tales to tell. The rock formation is largely made of limestone more than around 650 feet high. There are also cave with paintings etched and bones of prehistoric species. This is really a treasure along side... The views were incredible! Well worth visiting with a camera. Lots of stairs so some may struggle but my 7 year old sister managed it fine. Overall, amazing place to visit!!

It is a great place to see and enjoy not only the monument itself but also the surrounding nature ... Don't hesitate after visiting the fort to take some paths and wander in the forest and enjoy the rock views from below ...

I loved visiting the Belogradchik Fortress. It was a magnificent site with wonderful views everywhere you looked. You could stay and enjoy the views. The only negative was that you spend almost as much to park at the Fortress than you do to enter it. It was about 2.50 euros an hour, which is very high for this region. Knowing... More
