We stopped at Apa 1848 while on an excursion to Pompeii. We were able to see them making cameos and they explained the process. It is very delicate work.
There was no pressure to buy anything, but I couldn't resist since I had been wanting some cameo earrings. There are a variety of items in different price ranges so they can be affordable.
I have really enjoyed wearing my earrings since I returned and have received many compliments. Jewelry is always a good souvenir because each time I wear it, it brings back fond memories of our vacation!

As part of a Perillo tour, on the way to Sorrento, we stopped at APA. We were greeted by the manager who gave a briefing on the creation of the cameos. We were also able to watch a craftsman making a piece out of conch. The jewelry is outstanding!! There are cases full with various pieces in every price-range. There are many sales people available & no pressure to buy. I was in the market, so I purchased a bracelet & necklace/brooch. So totally different & beautiful!! On the way in, I had seen a magnificent bracelet in one of the cases, & just for fun asked the price----9000E!! The lucky lady who gets this piece!! It's out of the way, but a nice place to visit. Definitely recommend.

Were brought here on our way to visit Vesuvius. The manager gave a short talk on their manufacturing processes. We watched a lady carving a cameo and a large shell. The work is very intricate and time consuming which is reflected in the prices they charge. It was pointed out that the carving of the shells is a dying art with no one taking the place of the current craftsmen so you may not be able to their output in a few years.
You really need to know where this factory / showroom is as it is off the beaten track on the outskirts of Torre del Greco on Via Cavallo although not far off the Naples motorway. It would appear that they cater mainly for tour visits as there is a large car park and the showroom has many display cases with items for sale. These range from large pieces costing thousands of euros to small earnings at €30 plus. The work is very beautiful and is sent out world wide.
An interesting short stop but only needs a half hour at most unless you specifically want to buy.

A bit out of the way, but a nice stop. Cameos are carved as you watch. Very interesting. The shop sells cameos, coral, tortoise, jewelry. There is everything from moderately priced earrings to expensive diamond jewelry and cameos to large (35000 euro) bronze statues. Most is pretty pricey but worth a look, especially the coral displays.

We stopped at this shop on our way back from Pompeii.
Craftsmen show you the art of carving in cameos and shells.
Even if the prices are very high it is enjoyable to see so many works of art.

We booked this through the cruise line. It was very clean, plenty of clean rest rooms. There was a short demonstration of how cameos are carved, which was interesting, then a show room to peruse. Absolutely no pressure to buy.

This was a stop on our excursion from the cruise terminal. At first glance you wonder where the heck you're being taken. Nothing fancy here from the outside. Once inside it's different. The shop is full of beautiful pieces of artisan work. There's a craftsman there showing you how things are made and bountiful displays showing completed work. Truthfully not my cup of tea but nonetheless beautiful and worth a look if your nearby.
