Now it is just a big construction site . Only one small room can be visited, and the castle itself is closed. In fact there are so many constructions undergoing in this town. It will become a good place to visit next year, but now it's just not a good time at all.

We stayed in Ludinghausen between Christmas and New Year and enjoyed beautiful walks to the two Burgs which are within sight of each other, Burg Vischering and Burg Ludinghausen. Improvement work is being done at the moment, but despite that we were in awe at the sights and serene atmosphere.

Not a castle in the English sense. Well preserved, no litter. good footpaths, suitable for wheel chairs, prams and buggies. Quiet natural surrounding. Museum well laid out, cafe area available.

Burg Vischering is a wonderful example of a moated castle and worth the trip if you're in the region. It's staggering to think this building, like many others, have stood for hundreds of years. A great place to enjoy the country side, or buy some fresh local bread made on site. There is also a cafe and museum space with... More

very nice but not worth more than a quick visit and check online for opening times especially out of season. Park in Ludinghausen and do the round city walk.

After living in Germany for a few years, and experiencing many times the country's tourist industry's apparently total failure to relate to its customers it was a real pleasure to go to a ticket office and be greeted with a smile, some humour and an attempt to speak English, and not be immediately bombarded with a list of "things you cannot... Went really to photograph the moated castle having seen in on the Internet. Sadly, not a complaint, it is in the middle of a major restoration programme. If visiting that should not distract from your enjoyment. It is a stunning example of a moated small castle. There good toilets , a decent cafe and a museum. Some pleasant flat walks... More
