A must to see if you like views and or history. Wear good foot ware as considerable climbing if you want to go to he top. However there are stopping areas along the way. Views are great. Seniors can enter for free. Look for the elevator access or you can drive or walk up to the main access

It’s a must! Fantastic viewing of Alicante and surroundings. Take water and good walking shoes. We took the lift and walked down. November was 23C but in summer take suntan lotion.

If you don’t want to stand in extremely long queues for the lift to the castle (from beach level) then best get there for opening time. The small cost of the lift is well worth it (costs nothing to come back down). We booked the English guided tour (free) for 11am and were the only ones on it. David was very knowledgeable on the history of the castle and we found the tour very interesting indeed. Lovely views from the top too. Well worth the visit.

What a wonderful day out exploring the castle and it’s wonderful views, well worth the drive. Lots of walking, hills and steps, fine for us but not those that are not steady on their feet or in a wheelchair. Lots of people walking dogs and pushing prams. A great day out for all the family as well as educational.

Fabulous views at the top. Interesting history, well explained at the site with written , many in English and visual aids. Entry was ridiculously reasonable and we used the lift. We were a little confused, as we could see signs saying the lift could only be used for mobility and pushchair purposes but there didn't seem any other way to access the top. Perhaps things would be different in the peak of the summer. Thoroughly recommended and so worthwhile. This experience has made our holiday.

The views were spectacular! Free entry, clean facilities, cafes and lots to explore. Parking on the hill is free with helpful attendants as spots can be small! Take cash for them as they don’t accept card, as a tip, it’s not compulsory but they are very helpful chaps.

We took the lift up (it’s free for children under 5 and seniors over 65; otherwise €2.70), which you might want to consider even if you’re more fit because there’s still a lot of climbing to be done once you’re inside. There are three main levels of the site and you enter on the lowest one. There isn’t much to see inside any of the structures; most of what you see is outside. But don’t let that discourage you; when you get to the top you’ve got a 360 degree view of Alicante and the surrounding countryside. It’s very impressive. The ride down in the lift is free. There are WCs, a cafe and a gift shop on the site. We spent about an hour on our visit.

Don’t do what we did and get lost looking for the tunnel that takes you to the lift that goes up to the castle . The entrance is beside the pedestrian walkway that takes you over the busy road from the beach . We assumed to our cost that the entrance was up , it’s not it’s at street level . So go down the stairs and you will find it . There is one lift it takes approx 10 people at a time . Well worth the money . The castle is big with a number of levels not great for people with mobility issues . There is a bar and toilets . It’s the number one attraction for a reason . Worth a visit .

Brilliant! We walked it all the way up and down and although hot and at times challenging, so worth it to fully experience this. We walked through a lovely park with fountains and orange trees, and once at the top the views are spectacular! Free entrance too, a real sense of achievement and definitely earned a cold beer afterwards

My boyfriend and I walked up here one sunny Saturday while in Alicante. We didn't go up the main path, instead taking the path less trodden, towards the West of the city. There was a bit of an uphill struggle, but we were rewarded with simply breathtaking views across the city! I would say you need a decent level of fitness to be able to climb this without breaking a sweat, but it isn't hugely difficult. Definitely a must if you are in Alicante!
