    Benidorm Express
This is fantastic value for money. €2.40 for a very scenic journey along the coast to Benidorm. We felt safe and secure in the journey. The tram is a short walk from Alicante train station just turn left and you will soon be there. Here is the amazing fact. Heathrow express - 15 mins £25 per person Benidorm express - 1 hour £2 per person

    Scenic/beach outing!
We travelled from Alicante to Benidorm which was a lovely scenic trip, mostly along the coast! We purchased our tickets on board. Sit on the right hand side going! Unfortunately I was not impressed by Benidorm.

    Brilliant service
We traveled from Benidorm five stops down, cannot remember the name. The Tram was spotless, the staff onboard were very helpful, helping others whom got on along the way . The ticket office staff were very helpful & understood my English better than my Spanish. This is the second time we have used this service & it most definitely will not be the last. Wonderful service & very cheap compared to England.

Excellent example of good public transport.
Simply put it is an excellent low cost reliable way of getting around. Clean, modern, air conditioned carriages. You can travel from Denia all the way down to Benidorm for just a few euros and Enjoy the scenery on the way.

    Easy to use, and comfortable.
Great tram system. Used many times for trips to explore various parts of the coast north of Alicante. Tickets cheap, easy to buy on board. Frequent, speedy service.

    Punctual, clean and cheap
Train from Alicante to Bernirdom every half an hour. Ticket from ticket machine at the station or inside the actual tram. It takes, coins, notes and gives change, Charge based on the number of zones you crossing. L1 train goes as far as Bernirdom. You then get off and change to the L9 for El Albir, Altea, Calp .The train wait for each other so plenty time for change. The L9 is hourly train. At Calp you change again for another L9 train to Denia . Long trip but worth it.

    Trip to Denia
Very pleasant way to go to Denia. Just remember to also change trains at Calp in addition to Benidorm. No one mentioned this until a kind stranger who for whatever reason assumed we didn’t know and told us…….so it was a mad dash to get off. LOL

    Efficient and economical
Very easy to use, clean, efficient and economical. Buying a ticket can be a little bit of a challenge but it’s not impossible. My husband and I traveled to Benidorm from Alicante. The journey was an hour each way and it was only €9.80 return for both of us in total.

    Great value
The tram is currently terminating / starting at the mercado stop due to renovation work being done st the main station . It’s a regular service and actually very cheap . We went to la vila joiosa a small town between Alicante and Benidorm for the day and had a great time it is Definetly worth a visit and the tram is the way to do it .

    Tram go Benidorm and Altea
My boyfriend and I got the tram from Alicante to Benidorm, and then later onwards to the beautiful Altea. The tram was easy to use and about an hour to Benidorm. We bought tickets on the tram itself. Very clean and some excellent views. They do get quite busy it seems - don't always expect a seat!

Getting the tram was mostly simple and easy, not to mention useful!

Please note the following if you’re not used to the system:
- Rarely are there toilets at the stations and certainly not the trams themselves, so seek out a bar or a restaurant where you may be able to use theirs if permissible

- If you can’t get a return/round-trip ticket (Usually as the journey is in the same zone) and it says to get the metropolitan ticket, note it is ONE journey (i.e. the outbound journey). The machine says something like “number of travels” but this is one way (easier if it said “travellers”). Make sure you buy a ticket on your return so you don’t have to buy an exit ticket at your exit station, which works out more expensive.

Useful info to know as there is no info elsewhere to clarify this, not even the machine tells you clearly.

A great and easy to use transport system is also very reasonable price wise. It is comfortable and clean but it can of course get busy at peak times. You can go to Benidorm by tram and the price is less than 5 euro’s for an hour’s journey. It runs on time and there are frequent trains connections. Maps are available in the train stations.

It took a bit of working out at first, as no cash or card machines are at the smaller stops. Once we got the hang of the on board machines, with thanks to a local lady, it was plain sailing (travelling), with some interesting coastline to see. Had a small journey at first, up the coast and the next time did Alicante to Benidorm return for just over 6 Euros per person.
Excellent value and good regular service every half hour.

Yesterday we took the newly renovated tram line from Teulada to Benidorm. You can also cross the line and continue along the coast to Alicante. It cost €6.50 return Benidorm and means no need for parking and fuel costs if going by car. The journey is a little noisy but very pleasant . The views are amazing ( unseen by car) firstly through mountainous passes and along by the exceptional coastline. It takes just under an hour. Make sure you buy your ticket from the machine in the back carriage or you could face a €100 fine. On arrival turn left out of the station then first right on the main road. Just walk straight down this road to the bottom if you are wanting to visit the cobbled ‘old town’ and tapas alley. It’s a twenty minute walk down hill and perhaps good to take a taxi when going back up to catch your return train. If you have a Spanish pensioners card you can get a reduced fare from the machine.

We have used the Alicante tram system on a number of visits to this vibrant city. Whilst it is no more than a twenty minute walk across the city centre from the port to the station, the tram is a good option for travelling further afield. The spectacular beach at Playa St Juan is a 30 minute ride away and runs from Porta del Mare (Line 5) or the centre of the city (Line4). A single journey costs 1.45 Euros and tickets are purchased on board. The ticket machine is logical but can be baffling for the first time user. Within Zone A, all you need to do is select the TAM on the right hand side of the screen. The machine accepts cards but isn't contactless. Timetables and route maps are available from the excellent Tourist Information Centre just across the road from the tram stop and behind the C6 airport bus stop 1.95 Euros for those over sixty five!!!! Longer journeys are also possible and by changing at Benidorm International! You can travel as far north as Denia or the white village of Altea. All in all, a great service that has much to offer

So clean, cheap, easy to use and comfortable, puts most UK urban transport systems to shame. There is an express/limited stop service to Benidorm on a tram/train hybrid, and several local services. All lines seem to stop at the same first few stops then diverge so make sure you know your route. At all but the main stops there are no ticket machines, you have to pay on the tram. We could not fathom how to get returns for short journeys, but a single within the first zone is only 1.45 e. We thought it was a great way to explore.

Almost whenever and wherever we tried to buy tickets, the sales kiosks were closed, and the self-service instructions only in Spanish. We coped, but only with the kind help of strangers. The tram service itself is excellent, reasonably prtced, clean, punctual and easily accessible at the low-level stations

great tram service, we went to Benidorm ( 19 miles away) for 6.40 euros return , each. takes about an hour, but no hassles . Trams efficient, easy to use ticket machines, and easy to follow line numbers and directions, get on at Mercado for easy access and ease of finding stop.

When staying in Benidorm we usually have some days out and find the tram is excellent as it's cheap and reliable with trams every half hour towards Alicante.
The tram line is mostly a single line and the trams cross over where it is double track.
The main tram station in Benidorm is on Ave de Beniarda, which is easy enough to find but is located at the back of the old town uphill. If you're going from the Poniente beach seafront go uphill from the Corona del Mar hotel and keep going and you reach a main junction with 5 roads, cross over and take the road that goes uphill and the tram station is on the left 5-10mins down a side street.
You can either buy tickets at a machine or at the manned booth and for a return journey Benidorm to Alicante it is 4.80eu.
The seats are hard plastic, so not that comfortable but bearable for just over an hour's journey. The trams are usually fairly busy, so it's worth going around 10am which seems to be a quieter time.
On your return from Alicante get on at the terminus stop of Luceros and you should manage to get a seat.
