The current palace was constructed in the same spot where Edo Castle used to stand. Most of the palace grounds are not open to the public except for the East Gardens, which are accessible on select days.

We visited on a sunnier day so there were plenty of people out, we didn't book a tour either but instead just walked around the outside of the palace. It's a great place to get some pretty pictures.

By night the palace is lit up beautifully and lighted fountains surround it near the outer moat. Really gorgeous!

The perfection of the garden makes it a must. Unfortunately most of the coolest parts are not accessible by the public.

The main part of the palace is only open for guided tours. However the East Garden is open every day (not M and F) and is fantastic. I visited in December and the remaining autumn colour made for a very atmospheric enviroment.

Only walked the perimeter as an early morning exercise walk.Very busy activity for exercise buffs! Could not enter the grounds of the palace as we were out of opening hours. None the less the walk provided ample of subject matter for the photography buffs!

Ginza / Tokyo Nihonbashi
Ginza is famous for being a trendy hotspot, but it's
also a downtown area with shops that were founded over
a hundred years ago. Department stores and luxury
boutiques line the route from Nihonbashi to Ginza.
It's a long established tradition to shop and stroll
while the road is closed to traffic. Luxury hotels,
world class cuisine from talented chefs, and a
collection of glitzy clubs will make this area popular
