About
My family has been stationing in Malaysia, the United States, Mexico, and China for 15 years in the context of my work. I feel different cultures and feel kindness from local people, and I have a lot of really good memories. Since I retired in April 2018, my family wanted to give back to foreigners visiting Japan from now on. After thinking in various ways, although it is a small home, I decided to experience the spirit of Japanese culture and hospitality in a general private house. It is a 4 hour course, but the contents are varied. Origami, udon mash, Japanese food and Matcha are made together, and as a souvenir, the wife writes the visitor's name in calligraphy on colored paper It is also one of the purposes for you to visit our house and to make friends all over the world. From the next visit, you are a member of our family.

My boy and myself can never forget the warm welcoming friendship and the delicious food delicately prepared by Keiko San and Taka San...
My first visit was in Sept. We wanted to have an authentic Japanese experience even though we visited Tokyo several times. Went for it and absolutely loved it...It is definitely an experience never to be missed!
And just a month later, knowing that I am visiting Japan in Dec, I immediately contacted Taka san in Oct as I remember our chat that they love bakuteh and chicken rice from Singapore, so I’m going to bring them those goodies!
Without further hesitation, Taka San and Keiko san invited us to their home again. My boy is so happy with the invitation and can’t wait to see them in Dec!
We met in Dec and there was so much memories from the first visit. The good chat along the peaceful relaxed route while walking to their home, the great smiles from the couple, the warm deco of the house, the delicious chef-cooked cuisine! We chatted a lot during dinner, learned new things about our families and had our matcha tea sessions!
This is not something that you will get from other activities that you may find...*from my heart*
Incredible friendships built within a day or even just a few hours! Taka san and family are kind-hearted people who treat visitors like family and connect people with open conversations. We learn and we grow.
Team TAKA, we are one!
Ps: next trip bringing my parents over for sure!

Hello Li Yen-san,
Thank you for visiting my home twice in three months from Singapore.
This was a big surprise for us.
In June of this year, we heard that you are planning a third visit with your parent and son.We have started thinking about a special way of welcoming.
We are very much looking forward.
Best regards,

This is definitely a must do activity for those who want to experience a part of the Japanese culture in a very personal way. Taka & Keiko were such amazing hosts they really made you feel like family. I loved the food experience the most, as I was finally able to make sushi without it falling apart plus it tasted insanely delicious! Highly recommend this activity
Thank you for having us, I am proud to be part of Team Taka!

Of all my time in Japan this summer this was by far the best experience my daughter and I had. Taka and Keiko were amazing hosts. Taka Met us at the station and walked us to his house which is in a lovely neighbourhood. Keiko Met us at the door and the minute you walk in you can feel the welcoming , kind and a genuine nature from them both. Conversation was so easy and both of their English was excellent! Keiko taught us Origami, then Taka thought us how to make udon noodles while listening to YMCA. It was a blast! Lol. We then made sushi, and tempura and sat down together and ate the most delicious lunch. So filling in fact we ate very little the rest of the day. We had matcha and did calligraphy with Taka and Keiko after lunch. The conversation flowed and we learnt so much about them both. We left feeling as though we have made lifelong friends. I cannot stress enough that this is a must do activity while in Tokyo. You will not be disappointed and I promise you will leave having had a fun day full of learning, laughs and leaving having met two wonderful new friends

This is wonderful for anyone looking to experience Japanese culture and food with limited time in your itinerary. It was like a homestay in a day, Taka and Keiko go above and beyond to make you feel right at home. A highlight of our trip!

From the first moment stepping foot into Taka's home, I felt comfortable and welcomed as if I were a member of the family returning home after a long day at work.
Although I am half-Japanese, and had experienced a few of homecoming TAKA's activities before, Taka and his family showed me & my friends a new side of Japanese hospitality traditions that I had not yet experienced. Also, their explanations were very clear and backed with in-depth knowledge.
I look forward to 'coming home' to the TAKA house again someday and highly recommend that you do as well!

Mr. Taka will receive you with open arms and make you feel part of his family. You will make wonderful new friends while enjoying great traditional Japanese food and drinks.
Together, we prepared Udon, Sushi, Gyoza, and Matcha. Then we learned how to do Origami and how to write our names in Japanese.
This project is Mr. Taka's dream and you will quickly notice how passionate they are about it. I went with some friends and will be coming back with my girlfriend next month. Thank you for the great experience and hospitality, Mr. Taka! See you soon :)

Cooking with Taka and Keiko was such a good and fun experience. Not only was the food really tasteful and fun to make but the company and hospitality was beyond our expectations. We were welcomed with open arms, curiosity and openness about Japanese life, food, language and much more. Visiting Taka and Keiko in their cozy home felt familiar – almost like visiting relatives.
We can highly recommend anyone who wants to learn how to cook a few tasteful Japanese dishes and experience Japanese hospitality at its finest to join “Team Taka”. We are looking forward to keep in touch and to come back in the future!

This was an amazing experience. Taka and Keiko will teach you the traditional way to cook Japanese cuisine. You will also learn the art of Japanese origami and calligraphy which is very fun. This is also the most genuine way of experiencing the world renown Japanese hospitality. Taka and Keiko not only welcome you into their home, they welcome you into their lives as friends and part of their "Team Taka". I am so happy I not only learned more about Japanese culture and cuisine, but I made some great new friends for life. This will be one of the highlights of your trip that you will cherish for a lifetime.

Warm, welcoming, knowledgeable, fun, clear instruction, easy to chat with ... We learned so much about Japanese cooking, the origin of the ingredients, our hosts, their beautiful homeland! Taka and Keiko were so easy to be with, it felt like visiting old friends. Their kitchen was the perfect layout for this type experience. Taka's cooking class was so well planned that it flowed naturally from one dish to the next. At the end of the lesson, there was a lot of food to eat - and we enjoyed every bite!

This was an amazing experience for my family from beginning to end. First Taka-San picks you up from the train station so you don’t have to worry about getting lost. The walk to his home was great. We got to talk, see a shrine, and see a more quiet living area in Tokyo. Once we got there Taka-San and his wife were so welcoming. They made us feel like part of the family. We were able to make origami, make all kinds of Delicious Japanese food. We made match tea and tried calligraphy. My teenage daughter loved the hands-on cooking. Taka-San and Keiko San were amazing hosts. I can not say enough great things about this experience. A definite must do experience that I highly recommend.
