Nice Architecture

I work for a University in Canada so I wanted to stop by just to see what a Japanese campus would look like. It was nice to for a quick stroll and just to look arond.

This university is incredible. If you are in the middle, you can imagine that you are in England and not in Tokyo. All is open, you can visit it as you want. I recommend for a quiet stop. It is just few hundred meters of ikebukuro station.

Its main building is well known for its beatiful fasade and atmosphere, so many visitors take pictures of it and think they have seen the best parts of Rikkyo. But if you you really want to discover the real aspects of the college, I recommend you go deeper and further. For example, you can go inside the chapel which is... More

Rikkyo University is arguably one of the most European-looking universities in Japan. It is also the place where Tokyo Ghoul's anime studio picked for Kamii University. In other words, you can think of Kaneki, Hide, and Nishiki attending school here. This is a must-visit place for Tokyo Ghoul fans. By the way, Cafe Museum (Cafe Re:) is just a few... More

In the hustle and bustle of Ikebukuro, this campus is so peaceful and so beautiful. It's also very surprising to find this british lookalike university in Tokyo. If you are in the neighborhood, take the time to visit and take a break.

My son works here as a lecturer. it is difficult to believe that this university is in the middle of a concrete jungle. It is an oasis of piece and quiet with a very real feel of Oxford or Cambridge about it. The refectory is straight out of Hogwarts. The university motto is in Latin Appetitus Rationi Obedient - follow... More

The red brick buildings crept with ivy of the University of Saint Pauls are really beautiful and this place is a hidden hitorical spot in Ikebukuro. The curry rice of school cafeteria is worth trying, too. The ceiling of cafeteria reminds me something like the abbey of the Middle Ages. Although this is not my alma mater, I like visiting... More

This campus is quite lovely and peaceful. Don't make a long trip to visit, but if you find yourself near the Ikebukuro Station with some time on your hands, walk around and enjoy the landscaping and the architecture. The grounds are very well kept and the buildings are nicely maintained. After visiting so many temples, it was quite nice to... More

As I could see the whole campus of Rikkyo University from my room in Hotel Metropolitan, I decided to visit with my friend. The University was celebrating its 140 years anniversary. We went into the museum in the campus and learned its heritage and future plans. It had a display of actual documents as well as digital display of its... More

Ikebukuro is an area of massive development. Several thousand tenants occupy two giant department stores and shopping malls, where all sorts of shopping and gourmet foods can be enjoyed. The 60-story building at the east entrance of the station, Sunshine City, is a landmark within Ikebukuro and features an aquarium, planetarium, theme park as well as an observation platform. The popular name for the western side of this area is "Otome Road" (Maiden Road) and there are many shops selling products related to anime with a female theme.
