The area

Neighbourhood: Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.

We were three people at class. Wonderful couple teaching how to make Okonomiyaki with love and devotion! Good explanation in English even with video upfront.
As I got to test the knife during the class I took the opportunity to buy it on spot.

Massa & Junko were very accommodating and friendly. We had so much fun in our sushi making class. They made us feel right at home and we learnt so much from them both about food and culture. This place is a gem because of their sincerity, enthusiasm and passion and I would recommend everyone to go visit them at least once if you are in Tokyo!

The great journey of Japanese cuisine classes.
It was a great experience to learn and spend time with the master. It's not just about Japanese cuisine. The master taught us the way of life from past to present. From the geographic to demographic and the history of cuisine. This is a beautiful journey. Master Masa and Master Junko are the best sensei. We had a great time.

My family and I had a wonderful afternoon with Masa and Junko. Not only did we learn how to make sushi, but also we had a terrific meal with them. The quality of the fish was top notch. They were wonderful hosts and I give them my highest praise!

We did the sushi making class with Masa and Junko and they were fantastic! So patient with our family and kind- full of great stories! We feel so lucky to have met them and are looking forward to recommending them to our friends. The food was great and the accommodations were amazing. Thank you, Masa and Junko for a memorable evening in Tokyo!

The location is close to Asakusa touristy area. It was very convenient. The teachers are well-trained and speak fluent English, although it's new.
We tried green tea ceremony. They use high-end materials and ingredient. "Dorayaki" (Japanese pancake) was an extra bonus! We would definitely come back again!

I attended a tempura cooking course with Masa & Junko and it was a great experience as a cooking and social experience. As it is currently their low season we had the pleasure and honour of a one-on-one course. The course took us through the preparation and cooking of vegetables and prawns and then the fun of consuming them. While the course was underway Masa took many photographs and then used AirDrop to instantly transfer them to my phone so I have a great record of the experience. The course is accessible, on foot, a short walk from Tawaramachi Station on the Ginza Line of the Tokyo Metro Underground

We had such a wonderful learning experience with amazing hosts, we went back for a second class. We were even happier the second time. We learned even more about Japanese food, cooking techniques, and culture.

You cannot find more gracious hosts! The setting is warm, inviting, comfortable.

The ingredients were all fresh and high quality.

This won't be our last time at Chagohan!!
