Very nice place for hanging around all day, admiring adorable animals. Highly recommended for both couples and family. Just remember the sunscreen!😎

Decent zoo to enjoy for young kids. Restaurants are also good but I do not take unless i am very hungry. There is a smaller entry 5 min from Nezu station. Usually much less crowded.

We visited the zoo in August - right in the middle of baby panda fever! We had a great day out (although didn't get to see the baby panda as she was still too little), and saw lots of different animals, such as tigers, pandas,...More

Low cost family activity in Tokyo, and the animals and enclosures were great. My daughter got to see some animals she has never seen face to face before - with Pandas and Flamingoes a highlight for her. We arrived mid afternoon and only saw 2/3...More

Great visit to this zoo - very cheap, younger children free (under 12). Cost us 2000 yen for 6 of us (circa £14). Good selection of large animals - lions, tigers, polar bears, several other bears, giraffes/rhinos, elephants, hippos etc. Smaller reptile section. Good for...More

Great place to bring your kids and introduce any kinds of animals at their young age. The place is so clean and well manage. I recommend this place for a family.:)

Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old
Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa.
Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit
a variety of different museums and galleries. At
Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the
grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed
alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at
the end of the year, when many people go on shopping

The zoo and its surrounding area offer quite enough shading from the sun, but yes I would second the previous review and suggest for you to bring an umbrella.

Construction work in progress, I suppose. But I get you. I was there a fortnight ago. The zoo employees should be able to accommodate the animals regardless of the season or weather. After all it's the oldest zoo in Japan... More
