About
Stonier was one of the first wineries to be established in the region in 1978 by Brian Stonier and his family at Merricks, on the southern edge of Victoria's Mornington Peninsula. Stonier planted Chardonnay in 1978, followed by Pinot Noir in 1982. Stonier and the Mornington Peninsula have subsequently built their world-renowned reputation on these two varieties, as the region’s cool maritime climate makes for the perfect canvas to bring these varieties to life. Stonier's dedication to crafting premium Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and sparkling wine has never been stronger. The wines distincly reflect the vineyards from which they come, expressing true varietal characteristics and Mornington Peninsula terroir. At only an hour’s drive from Melbourne’s CBD, this region is a popular weekend destination, with many gourmet dining options and boutique accommodation on offer. The Stonier Cellar Door is open seven days a week for wine tastings and sales. Bookings can be made online or by phone.

Popped in Saturday afternoon. Walked into tasting room which is large and greeted by staff member. When we were told the tasting fee of $10 each applied and wouldn’t be taken off any purchases, that didn’t go down particularly well. I understand times are tough for everyone, including customers!!!!! Cellar door tastings used to be a means of promoting wines, but today is more a means of profit. By joining the Stonier Club you get 15% off purchases, so we did.
We then popped next door to the Merricks General Food/Wine store for a look and enjoyed a FREE tasting of some lovely red wines and walked out with a few bottles.

Did the single vineyard tasting flight, staff were friendly and the wines are excellent. Unfortunately, no offer of a rebate on tasting fee which is unusual. Subsequently received an email with 20% off cellar door purchases in the next 48 hours. Why not offer this during the tasting - weird approach!!!

We had a great wine tasting experience with Leonie. She was very knowledgeable and we had lots of fun conversations. The wines were great and we walked away with plenty! Free delivery & 20% off when you join their wine club. We did this because there was no obligation to make further purchases - although we probably will.

We loved all varieties of wines on offer and would highly recommend going to Stoniers.

We came to stonier for wine tasting. The place is not as flash as some vineyards, which is somewhat refreshing. The staff was helpful and nice. We took our tasting outside while our kids played in the yard. The wines are high quality. Our only gripe is that despite purchasing four bottles of wine neither of our tasting fees were waived. This is not the standard in Mornington.

We attended here as a first stop for a tasting for a private winery tour we had organised. The staff were very helpful and were able to answer all questions. At the same time they were able to give us privacy to catch up as a group and take our time doing our tasting. This was a seated tasting which made it relaxed and not rushed. The wine also was delicious. I would definitely go back when up that way again.

We were part of an AmazingCo mystery tour, which had not forewarned that there was no BYO at this mystery destination where we were stopping for a picnic lunch. Most people walked into the gardens with an open drink from the bus, to be aggressively told to pour the drinks out immediately with no explanation! The staff continued to be rude throughout the afternoon, to the point of ignoring us in the cellar door and serving other customers who just walked in the door rather than those patrons who had been already been waiting for service!!
Very disappointing from the minute we walked in!

They only had 2 whites of the same variety (Chardonnay) & 2 reds (both Pinot noir). Very expensive for the quality. As well as that, the woman serving me was so argumentative. About wine, employment, everything. Not the experience you want in your last cellar door in the Mornington peninsula. I went to the Merricks general store after for a GOOD last experience. Better wine & a larger range. My advice would be to go there instead

The best sparkling wines in a very long time was the first offering of some very good wines offered by a well-informed guide. It is definitely worth a close look (if for nothing else, the sparkling was the highlight)!

I visited this winery a few weekends ago and was very pleasantly surprised by their wines that are only available at cellar door.

Their sparkling was one of the best I have tasted considering it is not Champagne..

The staff are very knowledgeable about the wines and also about the surrounding area which is very pleasant.

Their wines are decently priced and not overboard like some of the wineries on the Peninsula.
