We decided to stop to break up a car journey and surprise a child who likes planes. He was not disapointed, the planes were all beautiful and rare. We all enjoyed looking at the planes (all of which are able to fly) and were fascinated with the collection.

This collection of pre-1940 planes, especially the De Havillands, is superb. These are all planes whose frames were supported by and covered with spruce, birch and canvas. Not only are they in beautiful condition, but the historical notes about their manufacture and use are succinct, intelligible and informative. And then the workshop! A must see even for those with only... More

Very impressive display of prewar de Havilland aircraft (and a few others). Workshop is fantastic and really interesting to see the inner workings and fabrication of wood and fabric aircraft. Book a flight in the Tiger Moth if you can, you won't regret it!

The Croydon Aviation Heritage Centre is clearly ran by people of passion,. this transpires through the whole exhibition. We loved how informative it was and are incredibly glad to have made the detour. A must see in the area!

Good Morning Robin_Laura Many thanks for your review and we are pleased you both went away with fond memories of Mandeville and the Aviation Precinct as a whole. It really is a piece of paradise. It was unfortunate that you didn't get up for a flight - perhaps next time! Cheers Rose More

Ok its a small museum but what they lack in plane numbers the ability to get up close and personal is fantastic! Lady @ counter was just a wealth of information. And the restoration side I could have spent the whole day there. Dont forget the cafe! Entry was only $10 which was way to cheap. Going back again!

The aviation museum and workshops are fascinating but the temporary exhibitions in the foyer and exhibition room are often just as good. I visited to look at the SEWEZI Flight Challenge – Travelling Quilt Exhibition 2016 and was blown away by the variety and quality of the work on display. There was also an exhibition about the history of Sgt.... More

Certainly worth a visit: Very friendly staff that were manning the front desk & they had excellent knowledge about this museum. Wonderful displays & enjoyed looking at the various Aircraft.

This museum is well worth a visit. It is amazing that you are able to get up close to the planes to have a good look at them and inside them. Being able to see into the cockpits of all of these early planes made you realise how daring air travel was in those days. Coupled with a visit to... More

First of all I wish I could remember the lady's name behind the Counter because her infectious joy makes want to go in. At 10 dollars it's cheap anyway. The planes are gorgeous. You can literally touch history. Admittedly I love planes but this is above and beyond. Best place in my month in New Zealand.
