Worst use of my money

FIRST OF ALL —- the runs aren’t even that good. Today I had purchased a 4hr lift ticket. The weather today was very windy. After about 5-6 runs and less than an hour into skiing, my lift ticket had fallen off and flown away. The person running the lift told me I could go over and get it reprinted. I get over to the ticket booth and explain the situation. They refused to get me a new one. We had proof that I had purchased it and it was still the same person from when we arrived. They told me the only way I could get another was paying for a whole new one. So 120 dollars on 4 hrs of skiing? There’s nothing we could do but leave. So I spent 60 dollars on less than an hour of skiing. Great thanks👍🏻 #boycottbrim

Don’t follow and attack costumers.
They attacked me for wearing a mask because I was a park skier.
Make a better park.

Not managed well ..where are the adults?

We have been skiing at Brim for the last two seasons. My 5yo daughter had a series of private lessons last year and this year participated in the 8 week ski school. The ski school is fantastic by the way. My husband and I would buy half day lift tickets with evening extension and ski from 1ish until 3pm when our daughter’s lesson started and then ski with her a bit after her lesson too. One Saturday in late feb we did this - but on our 2nd run we tried to board the chair lift and my daughter didn’t roll forward on the movator quick enough for some reason. We knew she wouldn’t be able to make it to the line for the chair in time and we tried everything to get the attention of the teenage lift operator who was preoccupied with talking to her partner. The response time to stop the lift was way too slow in my opinion - the chair ended up slamming into the back of my daughter and continued to move so then twisted her sideways. She was terrified. We were terrified. She was crying about her knee being too sore to continue. We brought her to the chalet to asses her (was it her being freaked out or was she legitimately hurt?). After assessing We made the decision that her knee was too sore to continue skiing - which of course meant that my husband and I had bought lift tickets (including the evening extensions) for 2 runs, and my daughter was now also going to miss her $45lesson so we had spent close to $200 that day to ski down two, 3min runs and then have our day ended by something that should not have happened in the first place.
When we went to the guest services desk to explain what had happened and ask for a refund considering we clearly didn’t get to ski that day and that our daughter was hurt on the lift. I was passed along to two other guest services people (none of whom asked me how my daughter was). Finally the third employee? Manager? Refused to provide us with a refund stating “no refund policy”. That’s all fine and well except when we were in this situation because of a mishap on their end! I felt like I was being accused of trying to scam them or something. As if we would drive over an hour from Toronto - ski down twice (10min
total) and then decide to “call it a day” and drive back to Toronto again. Ridiculous. We left that day bc we were still more concerned about our daughters knee at this point - but we we feeling pretty upset by the way we were handled at guest services. The whole resort seems to be run by university and high school students. Ski instructors, lift operators, guest services reps. You’d be hard-presssed to find any adult with experience to help you. We had planned on being long term customers of brain. But because of our unsafe experience on the lift combined with pretty appalling lack of customer service we will definitely be going elsewhere next year. Terrible lack of foresight on management’s part to deny a refund in this one instance at the sake of many years of potential profit from us in lessons/lift tickets/ memberships. etc. There are many other options nearby that are safer and more caring of their guests.

Do not sign your children up for lessons- Go elsewhere!
Mar. 2020 • Family
Do not sign your children up for any lessons! Horrible experience trying to get a proper refund. The point of signing my children up for lessons was to buy a family of four seasons pass next year- I will NEVER return due to how this was handled. Management does not care about its customers. I signed my two kids up for three days of snowboard lessons for the March break and they were able to attend one day out of three before they shut their doors due to Covid-19. Instead of refunding me 2/3 of the amount I was only refunded 1/2!! Because the first day costs $149, second $90, third $60, I was only entitled for a refund for the cheaper days. They said it was due to the “administrative costs” I had to pay full price for the first day. 2 kids X $149 for 1 day of lessons is a rip off. Pretty disgusting they think they’re entitled to charge me full price for the first day and then shut their doors and keep the extra money. All I asked was to be credited the two days they missed and use it next year. Management was a nightmare to deal with and kept repeating this is their policy since I only came there one day so I miss out on the incentive of multiple days. YOU shut your doors and I have to pay extra?!!! He was not at all concerned we will not be returning next year. It’s too bad considering we had intended on buying a season’s pass for my family of four, and would have continued for the years to come. No concern for customer retention- I guess customers are dispensable these days since this is how I was treated. I will tell everyone I know about my experience.

Dont waste your time!

Poorly groomed.
Robotic managers that are rude and dont listen.
Very disappointing.
Managers could have easily got me to come back but I will never return. Stick with the bigger name resorts , they listen to your concerns and actually care if you return, these people dont.
Very poor conditions and unsafe for my son but they would not refund after we did just one run.
They repeat over and over" no refunds" "no refunds"....
General Manager says he has invested interest. "I ve been here for 28 years." Wow, the same part time ,seasonal job, for that long. You should be proud!
I guess he didnt understand what invested interest means. And that's why this place didnt fully open till recently. With the right people in place that actually care it could be a legitimate business.
Even at half price dont waste your money.

Matches expectations, knowing that this is a small hill, but...
Feb. 2019 • Friends
As a beginner adult, I went with other people to be safe on the few first times down the green slope, which was well signed and well maintained. I also got excellent service and advice from the shop people. It is also reassuring to see the numerous patrols and instructors that monitor the hills. The food staff is also very friendly and helpful. However, the last 2 times we have been over, one of the main lifts was not operating, in spite of the fact that there were many people present (hundreds of school children). As a result, the line for the one lift that was working was very long, and very slow moving. Such a long wait, for a 5 minute descent is a bit frustrating. Maybe there was a technical issue ? If so, this was not indicated anywhere.

Terrible experience at this highly unorganized ski resort. There was no help or guidance for beginner skiers. My family and I had horrible crashes into people below the ski hill as we were unable to stop and the bottom of the ski hill collides with people lining up to go up the ‘magic carpet’ up the hill. To make matters worse my son went missing on the huge resort and there was no urgency or any sort of emergency procedures in place. The staff stated that this happens all the time and assured that my son didn’t have access to any other hills other than the beginners area. They refused to make an announcement to call my son to meet back at the office nor did they assist in searching for him. Like another reviewer stated the Staff is a joke (aside from the young ladies at the rental office who assisted with boots and helmets -They were the only decent employees). Other families at the resort were much more helpful in aiding to find my son. Thank goodness we did find my son and turns out he went to the wrong hill thinking we were on the larger hill (which we were told he wouldn’t have access to) next to the beginners hill.

A place that large and with so many people all crowded together you’d think after the amount they charge people that there would be better emergency protocol in place. Needless to say we’ll never be going back to this skiing resort the next time we decide to give skiing another chance; and I would never recommend this resort even to my worst enemy.

Hi DW557, Thank you for giving us the opportunity to respond to your concerns. The safety of our guests is our number one priority and as such, we have a number of policies and procedures in place that address the situations you’ve outlined above, including internal procedures for missing persons as well as, the Alpine Responsibility Code which addresses slope safety. We have spoken with key staff members who assisted in the search for your child, both in the Snow School and at the Main Office, as well as reviewed our security cameras. As what was communicated to you at the time of the incident, quite often the separation of a child and parent is a result of a miscommunication between the parent and the child in regards to the meeting location at the bottom of our trails. Our first concern is to gather all appropriate information regarding the last known whereabouts of the child and identifying clothing/characteristics. As the last known whereabouts of the child was in our beginner area, when notified, all available staff and supervisors at the Snow School checked the immediate and adjacent areas to the beginner run and ultimately, located your son and notified yourself and your family members. While this search was being conducted by Snow School staff, the main office was notified and proceeded to contact all lifts to monitor chairs and lines in their areas. When these situations do occur, we debrief with our staff and take this opportunity to further review our policies and procedures. In regards to your collisions with others on our beginner terrain, the line for the Magic Carpet is monitored and set up to avoid skier traffic. Large orange “Slow” signs are placed at the bottom of the run to remind all skiers and boarders to reduce their speed as they approach the line and the bottom of the run. In the interest of the safety of all our patrons, we do feel it is important to note that as per the Alpine Responsibility Code posted prominently throughout the resort, it is each individual’s responsibility to “Always stay in control. You must be able to stop, or avoid other people or objects” and further, “People ahead of you have the right-of-way. It is your responsibility to avoid them.” Lessons are also available through our Snow School, should anyone need assistance. We thank you again for allowing us the opportunity to respond to your concerns and we hope that you will return to the sport of skiing and snowboarding in the future. I invite you to contact me, should have any more questions or concerns and welcome the opportunity to speak to you directly. Mark Rutherford
