Arranging this visit started with a telephone conversation with "Ashley." She was incredibly helpful and very accommodating. We arranged for the "Behind the Scenes" experience with our 4 year old Granddaughter. Candace was our Guide and she was absolutely amazing. We had a choice of which animals we wanted to visit with and while we hadn't chosen Eddie the hyena, Candace recommended him and we're so glad she did as it was a very worthwhile experience. Of course the lemurs were the biggest hit but Earl the agony was a very pleasant surprise too. We also enjoyed walking the grounds of Jungle Cat World as we became fast friends with Mikey the donkey who followed us all around the grounds.
We have been to Jungle Cat World in the past and we will definitely go back again!

I love this park. It's so relaxing and there is a lot of freedom of movement. The animals look cute, happy, well-fed, and healthy. This is my favorite animal park from here onwards.

We visited this wildlife park without much expectation, but were excited even before we parked the car. It was a great experience to see the wild cats up close. My 8 yo son enjoyed getting up close with the alpacas, geese, while enjoyed watching the wolves and big cats.
I would recommend to go around the feeding time for the cats, as that was really a great experience to watch them eat.

My boyfriend & I took my nephews (9yo & 12yo) to Jungle Cat World to do the behind the scenes experience. Our guide was Jessi, she was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. She also went above and beyond to ensure that our experience was memorable. We has chosen to feed the cougar, meet the ring tailed lemurs & meet the res kangaroos. However, the cougars were not too interested in eating so they allowed us to feed the Lions. The Kangaroos also were a little nervous of people so we also got to meet the tortoise. I highly recommend to do a behind the scenes experience if you can.

My heart broke as I walked through this zoo. The enclosures are simply awful. They are way too small for the animals, old, and run down. The great reviews you read, talk about how great the staff are ( which I’m sure they are) and how much they loved their behind the scenes experiences, including selfies with the animals. And this may all be true, but what is most important is each animal’s quality of life, NOT, how much our children loved the day there. When you read the negative reviews, you read the same things. The animals were all pacing, the enclosures were run down and very small, the animals did not look happy. And sure enough, the animals were all pacing when I was there today. I thought perhaps it’s close to feeding time and maybe that’s why they were all pacing, but then I read the other reviews. There was no playfulness to be seen amongst the animals except for the lemurs. I have seen lemurs many times at other zoos, and these lemurs definitely need a bigger, better and more natural enclosure. Also, perhaps it’s not so depressing in the summer, but in spring, the animals are covered in mud from the muddy and wet ground in their enclosures, and the walking paths for visitors is in many cases impassible due to muddy conditions. There was a wolf with a deep open wound and a sign stating that they are aware and briefly explained what it was. The explanation made no sense to me at all. I have been to zoos around the world, and many small family run sanctuaries. I have never seen such poor conditions as I saw at Jungle Cat World. This family run business makes money from these animals, from their camps, to overnight experiences, to what looks like a very depressing pet cemetery located at the back of the zoo. I visited this zoo many years ago because I heard there was a camp and was considering sending my daughter. But, after visiting and getting a tour of the camp, something just felt off. I got the behind the scenes look when I was considering the overnight camp. Almost 20 years later, I visited again. It still feels off. I wish these animals could be all sent to a sanctuary.

We have visited this zoo several times over the years and stayed overnight in all of the rooms. It never disappoints. Most importantly they truly love the animals and take excellent care of them.
They have a great behind the scenes program that is extremely educational. In fact we still learn enormous amounts every time we do it, despite having done it so many times (sometimes with the same animals). Mixing education with experience also means my kids are paying attention and retaining. When they leave they have a special bond with each animal that lasts a lifetime. So yes helping animals on so many levels.
The owners, managers and staff are also long time employees meaning you know they all have an invested interest AND all treat the animals as if it is their own pets.
It is a small zoo, easy to walk in 45 minutes so take your time and enjoy it. The evening walk is an entirely different experience and really brings the zoo to life.
Waking up to wolves and lions is a must do!!! The rooms are clean and beautiful. The amount of attention to detail they have put into each experience makes you feel so appreciated.
The nice bonus is that they have not increased the prices over the years meaning that every family can enjoy the experience.
PLEASE take the time to read through the binder that they leave in the room it will offer you a little a bit about them and their history that will help you understand what they are about and give you an appreciation for the place. A big shout out to Ashleigh because she has her life and heart invested in each person. She is amazing and always ready to help. She doesn't have a piece in the book but she should along with some of the trainers like Sam who have been around for a couple of years and have some excellent stories.
Thanks as always for bringing my kids and family a little closer to the animals with every visit. See you soon.

I was unimpressed. The enclosures for these animals are small tight quarters. You can see the stress of these animals by their pacing. I feel bad for these beautiful creatures
Also, despite being told about the muddy conditions there, it was horrible. There is not one clear safe walking path. The senior man I took with me fell and we had to leave. I’m Sure it’s better in summer, but it’s NOT safe this time of year.

Hi. Just wondering about how the animals are treated and if any of them are drugged. I really want to take my girlfriend there but we do not support animal cruetly for the purpose of entertainment.

Hi. This place genuinely seems to love their animals, they even have all the organic food brought in from the local Sobey's. Sure the cages could be a bit bigger, for example the panther's, but they get fed good fresh chicken. Saw the girls feeding the rabbits fresh dandelion. So, take your gf and you'll enjoy the day.

Hi,
A question to anyone who has stayed overnight. Is it noisy? Are the animals noisy at all overnight? We are travelling with a one year old so would be good to know how disturbed he might be.
Many thanks

Hi, they are not noisy during the night, We stayed overnight a couple years ago and could not hear anything in our room at night. We went around the zoo at midnight, it was fun:) bring a flashlight to see them better. Enjoy

Yes, we stayed one night. It wasn't noisy at all, but it was off season. It was kind of cool to hear the lions roar at night though.

There is only a snack bar there. I am pretty sure you can find some restaurants near by, and also take some food that you can put in the fridge in your room.
Is it $90 or $125 for behind the scenes? I see people saying different prices?

90.00 is for any 3 animals not including the baby tiger if you want to see the tiger it's 125.00 plus two other animals
Why do people say this is a horrible place and should be shut down?

When we were there, quite a few of the animals were pacing back and forth. BUT, it was almost time for the feeding tour and I’m sure they knew it. All of the animals looked healthy. On our Behind the Scenes tour, we had booked to see the red fox. Our guide suggested the fennel fox as it would be a better choice for our 4 year old grandson. It is a great place for smaller kids as it isn’t a huge place. We were there for approximately 3 hours (including the 1 hour Behind the Scenes) and saw everything. My grandson wants to go back, and we will definitely take him again.
We have a group of 14 planning a visit on July 1st. Can you give us more information on how to participate in feeding tour. Do we have to sign up in advanced?

Hello there. How are you? The feeding tour is free..... with the entrance price. If you want to do any of the behind the scenes or Safari Adventure you need to sign up before hand - I would say weeks before or even longer because they get booked up fast. Remember you have to sign wavers for the once in a life time experience. Do not forget to purchase a bag of food for 5 dollars to feed the goats and rabbits. Enjoy your stay. Love it all.!

The Safari room says it sleeps up to 5, yet it has one bed and a sofa bed (so guessing that is 4?). Can you confirm the sleeping options in this room or if a cot is available for the 5th person? Thank you.

yes there is sleeping for 5. Our two younger granddaughters slept together on the double bed in the living room and the oldest chose to sleep on the couch rather than the single bed beside the air conditioner. We had a wonderful experience there. A few housekeeping issues but hopefully they have been resolved.

Good evening, was wondering how are you able to get Behind the Scenes with both the tiger cub and lion cub?
Denjo39
Elmvale, Canada23 contributions
Unfortunately you need to choose one or the other of these adorable fur babies along with two other animal choices for the Behind the Scenes option. We chose Serena the Tiger cub and also very much enjoyed "kissing" the Kangaroo and playing with and feeding the adorable Lemurs, our Girls favorites especially Jazz.
Do you have a wheelchair rental available?

I don't really know whether they have wheelchairs available. I didn't see any on the premises. In any case the grounds are pretty rough for a wheelchair.
