This was once a bustling top secret base for scientists, technicians, engineers and military personnel. But you wouldn't know it looking at it now after nearly 45 years after WWII and German Democratic Republic (GDR) stewardship. Peenemunde could today be considered a sleepy coastal town...More

in the last remaining building of the old Hitler war research center, the power station, a very good museum has been established. It is showing (without keeping back criticism about the old work) how the first rocket technology for V2 had been developed. Other areas...More

Quite some thoughtful information on the motives to build rockets. Exploring new frontiers like in Fritz Lang's Movie "Die Frau im Mond" and all the comics of the 20ies, turned into war machines by the Nazi and later the winners of WWII. And if Hitler...More

We stopped off whilst touring Northern Germany in our Motorhome. Plenty of parking for €1 per hour. The visit takes between 2-3 hours, longer if you watch the videos. The site was the largest production, testing facility the Nazis had. They produced the first rocket...More

Love WW2 history, so this was right up my alley. Very interesting exhibits. You'll have to plan a good 2-3 hours if you want to immerse yourself in the numerous exhibitions - plan extra time if you want to watch the movies. If you have...More

Having always been interested in the Apollo Space program I had to visit its roots! The person in the visitor centre initially sent me to the power station which I found only mildly interesting. The main rocket exhibit is much more interesting provided extensive background...More

The museum is really interesting and gives a fantastic overview about how advanced rocket science really was during WWII. It also shows how the technology from then affected the space race in the 50'ties and 60'ties. Well worth a visit.
