About
Regarded as one St-Martin’s most famous beaches, Orient Bay Beach enjoys the reputation of being the “St. Tropez of the Caribbean.” This stunning strip of white sand with clear turquoise waters is the perfect place to relax and soak up the sun. There is no shortage of bars, restaurants, and beach clubs to choose from, and a strong breeze makes for great parasailing, kitesurfing, and hand gliding. While Plage Naturiste at the southern end is the designated nudist stretch of the beach, you will find that many visitors adopt a clothing-optional mindset all the way along Orient Bay Beach. – Tripadvisor

- TimJ93Omaha, Nebraska11 contributionsA Experience that's truly in ParadiseFrom Philipsburg, We took a day trip to visit Orient Bay Beach. a $25 cab ride got us there in about 30 minutes. (arrange to have the cab pick you up at a designated time as there are no waiting cabs at a cab stand there) It is tucked away off the beaten path and very secluded. There is a nude portion that is segregated down the beach but we chose to not venture there. The water is warm, wonderful and has a sugar sand beach that has no sharp rocks or shells. You can walk out for 40 yards or so before you cease to touch. No need for water shoes. I want to give a special shout-out to the beach bar, Chez Leandra. we rented a beach umbrella there with 2 chairs for $20 (as you can do with several bars along the beach) The owner is Z, but we dealt with John and Natalie, fantastic hosts! The facility is well groomed and the inside is clean and neat. We ate a lunch of Garlic Conch and it was to die for! Fresh, savory and a little spicy it was everything I was looking for in a unique island experience. Natalie made for me her special (which should be world famous by the way) Bourbon sour. She made it by adding several ingredients and floated a half shot of bourbon on top. Trust me when I say a bourbon sour is my "go to" and I have never had one this good! Truly a 5-star experience.Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten November 1, 2023
- Fae DLewes, Delaware88 contributionsGreat beach! This is a big beautiful beach on the Atlantic Ocean side of the island. The water may not be as calm as other beaches. There is some sea grass. You rent chairs and umbrellas from the beach bars. We spent a delightful day on this beach.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten November 1, 2023
- JohnFlorida102 contributionsOrient Bay Beach – Sun, Fun, Food and DrinkOrient Bay beach is a beach for everyone that has both a textile and clothing optional area. All along the beach there are many beachside dining accommodations to satisfy anyone’s desire. Many if not all of the restaurants have lounges and umbrellas available for rent in front of their palace. For those who are inclined for the all-over tan head to the southern part of the beach for the clothing optional area. It also has its own dining establishment and a great happy hour at 1:00pm in the afternoon. Lounges and umbrellas are available for $25 USD. Sand is great, the water is amazing and no trace of seaweed. The winds however were strong in the beginning of the week and then died down later in the week. Much stronger than the last time we were here. People were friendly and respectful. We met several couples and shared our experiences. Overall, an enjoyable experience and nice time on the beach.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten December 1, 2023
- Mary CNorthampton, Massachusetts5 contributionsThe Best Day of our vacation!Spent a wonderful day at Orient Beach~we chose our lounge chairs and umbrella at Orange Freeze and cannot say enough about how impressed we were with the service, drinks and food. We had one of their many specials, a chicken salad inside a pineapple which was light and delicious. It was all a 10! Great wiFi, bathrooms and shower all for $5 per person (as compared $15 p.p.elsewhere.) The staff was very pleasant~attentive but not pushy. It goes without saying that Orient Beach is perhaps the nicest beach on the island. Find the Orange Freeze beach establishment and enjoy!Visited December 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten December 7, 2023
- M T1 contributionBeach TimeIt's a great beach! Nice sand, few rocks, not crowded (by northeast US standards). Good for long walks, swims or water sports. Also plenty of bars and places to get a beach umbrella and lounge chair. Also a good selection of good restaurants in Orient Village or not far from Grand Case restaurants ts.Visited November 2023Travelled with familyWritten December 18, 2023

- Kiana LAtlanta, Georgia551 contributionsBeautiful beachWe visited this beach as part of a tour on Norwegian cruise line. It was called Beach Rendezvous. This beach is stunning! Beautiful white sand and blue water. Plenty of restaurants and bars that even offer beach service. Not too crowded. - Olivera B6 contributionsGo to for comfortSt. Maarten Orient Beach is the prettiest one on the island and a go to if you like the comfort and the beach bar service. Wide shore, white soft sand and shallow waters make it unforgettable. Moho/Mullet bay is nice, Philipsburg is cheaper, but the service at Orient Beach is incomparable. We lounged by the Wai Beach bar (two chairs and an umbrella $30), tasty food, great drinks, even better view, equals a perfect vacation. And if you are lucky to run into Merlya, make sure to try her massage, it’s worth every penny.Visited April 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten April 7, 2024
- Nautti MermaidAustin, Texas13 contributionsOrient Beach - Male & Female Topless OKWe visited Orient Beach in March 2024 and stayed at Orient Beach Hotel. Our review deals mainly with the Naturist aspect of Orient Beach. If this is offensive to you, don't waste your time reading our review. We chose Orient Beach because of its nude beach and relaxed atmosphere on all other parts of the beach. Female toplessness is entirely accepted without question on all parts of Orient Beach. This holds true for all other beaches on the French side of St. Martin. We visited the other nude beaches and preferred Orient Beach because of the vibrant atmosphere of the area. There are numerous places to rent chairs and umbrellas. Usually just near one of the various beach bars. Our beach chairs and umbrella were provided at no charge by Orient Beach Hotel. Beach vendors are on the beach but were not an issue at all. Smile, be polite and courteous with your "no thank you". The beach is extremely clean. In the early morning crews rake the beach and remove excess sargassum which was not abundant this time of the year. The water is so beautiful and there is a constant sea breeze. You'll find the nude beach at the far south end of Orient Beach near the hurricane ruins of Club Orient and among yellow beach umbrellas and a nude beach bar named The Perch Bar & Grill. There were easily hundreds of nude sunbathers each day of our stay. If you walk further south from the yellow umbrellas around the ruins of Club Orient there is still more nude beach but just no umbrella vendors. We thoroughly enjoyed our time on Orient Beach. When not on the nude beach, Nautti felt completely comfortable while topless on the beach, lounging on the beach and frequenting the beach bars topless. You will encounter topless Ladies on all parts of the beach, and coming and going from the beach. The French culture and ambiance was refreshing. Interesting point, the only "prudes" we encountered on Orient Beach were other American tourists. Unsolicited advice: Men, be sure and tell your significant other she'll be face-to-face with topless Ladies and nudists before you arrive on Orient Beach. We witnessed conflict among some couples, some women appeared shocked and very unhappy because they were obviously not informed about the nature of Orient Beach.Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten April 7, 2024

We went to the bikini beach restaurant and had nice tapas. Beach chair rental a bit pricey for $20 for 2 hours. Had a good time.Visited April 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten April 23, 2024

Orient Bay is a place where you can find a 3km beach splited in 6 beaches as Kontiki Beach, Bikini Beach, Wai Plage, nudist beach etc. We went to Wai Plage. Here you can rent chairs+umbrella for $30 in first row and $20 on the second and rest. For large groups you'll get a discount. We ate very good here. The check for 2 was aprox. $50. Drinks are from $8 for cocktails, $3 beer, water, soda. On Bikini Beach, not far away, we rented a ski jet: $60/30min. Also, you can do kyte, snorkeling and other water sports activities. For us this beach was in top 3 between the other ones visited because you have a very nice beach bar and quality services, music, water sports activities.

Naked is the word here. Not everybody, but most. Either topless or both. Located in a gorgeous area with gated homes, you have a bumpy ride in, but once there the water is truly magnificent. BBQ ribs on the beach with pom frites is a speciality. Very natural for all Europeans, etc.... the cruise ships just come to stare- truly obnoxious- but all others take it in their stride. Relaxing and friendly. Prepare to spend the entire day. Lots of people and children.

This was our first time to Orient Beach. There are places that are still closed due to Hurricane Irma damage but there is much renovating going on and places opening all the time. We stayed at La Playa that was absolutely perfect. They have a great bar/restaurant right on the beach with fantastic food. There are a few beach bars .... Kontiki was a walk down the beach and one of our favorites. A few french restaurants with wonderful cuisine also a little market right in the little village. The actual Orient Beach was pristine. The water is sparkling clean, warm with a sandy bottom of the finest sand. The ocean was a bit wavy on some days which made swimming a bit tough. Lots of parasailing and kiteboarding going on. The 'clothes optional' twist to the beach was interesting. 75% of the people are completely dressed, a few woman do remove their tops. Mostly people in their 30's - 60's at that time in December. We loved our time spent there and will definitely be coming back.

Orient Bay Beach is quite large and there are vendors that offer all kinds of water activities. Suggest you get there early, as parking gets filled. We paid $ 20 for two beach chairs & umbrella at the first location, closest to parking (I think it is named “Moi,” but don’t recall. The $ 20 also provides access to bathrooms - very clean & to showers. We had a great lunch and our server, from Dijon, France, was delightful. They may be a little more expensive than other spots on the strip, but definitely worth it.

We spent the day with chairs and umbrellas for $25 at Wai Plage, an elegant restaurant (and hotel which wasn't visible from the shore). The sand was soft, the beach wide and the water clear with some waves. One day it was windier so more chop in the water. Plenty of water sports to watch or partake. The menu was excellent, we had salad with smoked marlin one day, grilled fish sandwich, slow cooked pork. Our beach guy JR was a gentleman, helpful and cheerful. We weren't crowded on the beach, really enjoyed the calm and adult setting. We didn't explore the whole beach so didn't see the several other options mentioned on Trip Advisor. Went back a second day and will again.

If you’re looking for activities, comfort, food and beauty this is the beach. It literally has it all. If you want something more remote there are definitely other beaches but we keep coming back here. It can get pricey but the water is calm and perfect for young kids and the beach clubs and recreation stands provide fun for the adults.

Orient Bay beach is still one of the best on the island. About 2 km long, it is great for walking. Many beach bars have been or are being rebuilt, and there is a lot of beach activity near the hotels in the middle, but there is still much hurricane damage visible. On windy days the waves can be quite big and there is a lot of kite surfing going on. The water gets deep relatively quickly and the sand is white and soft.
On the North end, there is more seaweed and some green growing from the land side, so the beach is narrower, but quieter. At the South side, it is still clothing optional oriented, but it is sad to see the ruins of the famous Club Orient.

Spent a day at this beautiful beach in St Martin; on the French side of island. Beach is gorgeous with beautiful surf and sand. Plenty of good restaurants with beach front amenities. We spent the day swimming, walking and relaxing. It was a bit windy which made the temperature comfortable and the waves were great fun for swimming and water sports. There were a few vendors offering typical wares. Observed some tourists enjoying beachfront massages. A short walk up the beach we discovered a nude beach where folks of all ages were sunning themselves.
Transportation is easy to find to and from cruise port. We found this beautiful beach to be less crowded than other beaches we visited in the Carribbean. Highly recommend!

This is my favorite beach out of all the beach here in st. Martin/ st. Maarten. What I liked about it was the giant parking lot that stretched from Bikini beach to Perch Bar. Bikini beach is where you can find the water sports. Down by Perch Bar is where you can live your life in complete nudity. I was reluctant at first, but it was a freeing experience. You can rent chairs for $20 (couple) and enjoy happy hour at Perch bar 1:30-2:30. The margarita was amazing! You get a lot of privacy here despite all the eyes watching. It was mostly older men and women. Couple of people walking by the shoreline, but I didn’t care. Swimming in the ocean, au naturale was a cherry on the top and great way to even the tan. The warm water was magnificent. I tried Kontiki Beach Restaurant, the chicken wrap had my boyfriend raving for the days. Unfortunately the second time around the kitchen closed at 4 p.m. I recommend this beach 1000%.

Spent two days on Orient Bay Beach last week. Can anyone identify the young woman (French?) selling beautiful dresses and cover ups on the beach? Does she have a website? She appeared to be changing outfits frequently (great marketing ploy). I wanted to purchase but she didn't pause by my lounge chair.

Hi,
I'm staying in a condo on the north side of the beach near Mt Vernon. What beach bars are open up that way?
Written February 7, 2020
Sorry I can’t answer that one as we were on an excursion and we didn’t stop. I did see people with food and drink however so I assume there is a bar / eatery there!
Enjoy your holiday. We are off to St. Kitts!

No lockers. In fact, the hotel is totally gone and destroyed. So you're on your own. Happy Beach had a French couple swimming sans bathing suits and they had their keys, wallet and clothes stolen. We saw the aftermath......EEEEK
