    STUNNING!!!!
Piet on good shoes and not too fragile cloths and go for a 2-3 hours walk through these mines! Don't take too much the elevator, rather go for the stairs. Stunning views, loads of things to see, hear, feel and do - could be a day excursion with the family on a rainy day as well!

    Out of this world
Words can't really describe this place. I felt like I am in space or in a movie. We loved it. Be prepared to climb up and down a lot of steps, but it is worth it in every way. I am truly amazed by this experience.

    Stunning salt mine
Great value for money. Alina very helpful and friendly. Salt Mines absolutely incredible, steeped in history. Take cash for rowing boats. Recommend entering via the Old Entrance (follow brown route signs) as there is a coffee shop there and a gift shop that both take card payment. 5* definitely recommend

    A special location - definitely worth a visit - May 2024
In May 2024 we took a trip to Turda - a 2,5 hours drive from Timisoara - and the first obvious stop was the former salt mine - nowadays a tourist attraction and a base for treating all sort or respiratory issues (indeed you can book 1 -2 weeks of "salted" air treatment). You can get an online ticket - that is what I did - to cope with potential big group flocking at the entrance - 50 Ron for adults weekdays - 60 Ron in the weekend, basically 10 -12 Euro's dependent of the day - and you can sped the whole day inside the mine. Opened from 9:00am to 7:00pm with the last entry at 6:00pm Now getting inside the mine start with a walk down a slope with more than 100 steps - that you will need to climb when you are getting back on top. Once in the gallery you can choose to continue on stairs to the Rudolf mine section - or the elevator - and from the Rudolf mine to the Terezia mine again there is an elevator or you can take the stairs. Going down we've used the stairs - upwards I we took the elevator. Inside the mine there are several activities should you want to spend more time - those range from mini-golf , pool , etc ... with a price list listed at the small café at the Rudolf mine level. Going one level below is the Terezia section of the mine - activity stopped there in 1880 and the water sipped in slowly but surely and nowadays there is a salted lake , with a max depth of 6 meters , and in the center there is a mound of residual salt that accumulated ... and here you can take a small boat - it is like 20 Ron /person - it is up to you to decide if you want to do it or not. If you arrive by car - there is a parking lot just at the entrance - payed parking - and you can pay your parking ticket by card too. Remember the parking is not included in the entrance fee. To sum it up - the Turda Salt mine it is special in many aspects - it is well organized to handle a great number of visitors and definitely worth a visit when you are in the area schedule a few hours to check it.

An amazing trip in the heart of the earth
This salt mine definitely deserves a visit: a look at the heart of earth 100 meters underground. An amazing atmosphere that recalls something extraterrestrial. Such a wide breath breaking view that you could not expect!

The worst mine I have ever visited. The place is beautiful, having an interesting history, however none of this is highlighted. Minimal information about the mine is explained on 4 boards scattered across the whole mine. There is NOTHING else about history or how the mine operated across the rest of the area.

Going down into the actual shafts should be the highlight of the experience, however it is much worse. A single lift which carries 7 people at a time is the only thing available to take everyone down, apart from 13 flights of steps. This will take you to the 'amusement park', made up of a Ferris wheel, billiards and table tennis tables, mini golf, bowling and an amphitheatre, all of which require further payment.

From here you can take a further 10 flights of stairs (with people also using this very narrow staircase to go up) or another lift which carries 4 people at a time, to reach the lowest point with a lake. Once again, there is barely any information on how the lake was formed, the process of actual mining, etc. Instead there are a couple of boats available for rental at a further price (tickets purchased at previous level), and a few wet benches.

It took around 15 mins of waiting to reach the elevator, for going down or up each step. All in all wasting a whole hour, just to go up or down.

The place has soo much potential, just for it to be wasted on a few mediocre attractions with no attention paid to the mine itself.

Turda Salt Mine is a place to visit for almost everyone. Those who cannot make an effort will feel discomfort. It is on 2 levels. You can also use the stairs. During the week it is freer until 13:00. Parking is paid (4 lei per hour). Souvenir shops both inside and outside. High prices.

I was pleasantly impresed by this place!
In the first place, i strongly recommend to buy a ticket online from their website, because the line from the tickets was huge.
After that, you can relax, enjoy the time there. You can play some games, go boating on the lake (yes, this place has a lake!), take a ride in the ferestwheel, buy a souvenir, or just sit on a bench and admire the beauty of the place.
Enjoy!

The place looks good, normally I would have given it a 4 star rating, but due to the fact that at the lower levels I saw a few people wearing masks I cannot. The queue to the elevator was huge and people were crammed into each other, without following the 1.5 meters safety rule. And of course no one to make sure the rule is respected. Same for people wearing masks. Too bad since the place is really cool. I told the employees about people not wearing masks and the response I got was that there are signs everywhere and someone goes down from time to time to check. We saw no such person.

Probably, at the inauguration, the interior design of the salt pan impressed everyone. It can be seen that a futuristic concept was wanted, which they succeeded, but currently the conservation of the works shows a serious negligence. In addition, compared to other salt mines that I have visited, at Turda there are not many places where you can simply stay down . If you come with friends, you can play a game of table tennis or billiards (with extra costs), but playing a game of backgammon or other games is almost impossible. Sin. Although the beneficial effects of the salt air are well known, here you have nothing to do for more than 2 hours.

More touristy and carnival like than a true tour and history of this industry. (There are signs which provide that context.). We put this on our itinerary (which added 3+ hours of driving) but neither the town or the mine was a "must-see" in our opinion. The mine had seen significant investment to bring it to it's current state.

I will say, the access into the mine needs to be improved as we saw several children slip and fall. The elevators are small and the lines to get back up can get long. You pay for parking at a kiosk prior to leaving and it was not working well.

Unless you want to do the carnival stuff, this is a short visit.

Unfortunately I am very disappointed on the place. The mine seems great for the first look, but - compared to other salt mines is very expensive, very crowded, without any options to eat or drink, the mine is not renovated, some parts are non operative or closed.
Taking into account the daily income, they should invest way more to improve the environment.

I understand that, there is no option to have a warm food or hot tea, but even bringing your own food is forbidden - comeon. For a Dripstone Cave is normal, that you don't bring any food, but for a touristic salt mine, well....

For health treatment is perfect, but taking into account what offers for me, I consider as far worse than other salt mines. For ex. let's take a look on the salt mine at Praid. It is cheaper, bigger, cleaner and offers more to families.

Let's do a quick math: in average there are 1800 visitors in a day. Children and old people have a discount so let's say in average people pay 40 Ron (8.2 Euro) for entrance. If you do the math for one month, then we end up at 43 000 Euro income. This just the entrance fee plus adding the parking tickets and the bills for the games, well.... these guys make a good profit... But they don't invest too much to improve the place, just check my pictures 😉

I recommend this beautiful salty mine and it’s worth to have a 3-4 hours visit inside (down there) because it’s offers you spectacular images, salty carved mountains, a natural salty lake with boats that you can’t rent and also have a nice walk around, there is a park, ping-pong tables, benches so you can relax and breath the healthy air. It’s usually crowded especially during weekends so try to avoid Saturdays and Sundays there. Children will be joyful to have a visit as well since there are plenty of activities to do!

The salt mine is very impressive in size. There are some activities options (ping pong, bowling, wheel, rowing the boat on the lake at the bottom of the mine) or just sit on the bench and read a book . One thing I have to complain: the waiting time at the elevator is long (about 15 to 20 minutes in August when we were there). We had to go down and climb up again on the stairs , about 17 narrow and crowded stories.
Bring a big bottle of water with you. You'll need to hydrate and once inside you cannot go out to buy some and return. Also it's forbidden to eat in there, some don't come hungry.
