Piet on good shoes and not too fragile cloths and go for a 2-3 hours walk through these mines! Don't take too much the elevator, rather go for the stairs. Stunning views, loads of things to see, hear, feel and do - could be a day excursion with the family on a rainy day as well!

Tip if coming form airport get a bolt the airport drivers tried charge me an extra 100lin 😳🙄 naughty naughty.

Words can't really describe this place. I felt like I am in space or in a movie. We loved it. Be prepared to climb up and down a lot of steps, but it is worth it in every way. I am truly amazed by this experience.

Recommend entering via the Old Entrance (follow brown route signs) as there is a coffee shop there and a gift shop that both take card payment. 5* definitely recommend

In May 2024 we took a trip to Turda - a 2,5 hours drive from Timisoara - and the first obvious stop was the former salt mine - nowadays a tourist attraction and a base for treating all sort or respiratory issues (indeed you can book 1 -2 weeks of "salted" air treatment). You can get an online ticket - that is what I did - to cope with potential big group flocking at the entrance - 50 Ron for adults weekdays - 60 Ron in the weekend, basically 10 -12 Euro's dependent of the day - and you can sped the whole day inside the mine. Opened from 9:00am to 7:00pm with the last entry at 6:00pm Now getting inside the mine start with a walk down a slope with more than 100 steps - that you will need to climb when you are getting back on top. Once in the gallery you can choose to continue on stairs to the Rudolf mine section - or the elevator - and from the Rudolf mine to the Terezia mine again there is an elevator or you can take the stairs. Going down we've used the stairs - upwards I we took the elevator. Inside the mine there are several activities should you want to spend more time - those range from mini-golf , pool , etc ... with a price list listed at the small café at the Rudolf mine level. Going one level below is the Terezia section of the mine - activity stopped there in 1880 and the water sipped in slowly but surely and nowadays there is a salted lake , with a max depth of 6 meters , and in the center there is a mound of residual salt that accumulated ... and here you can take a small boat - it is like 20 Ron /person - it is up to you to decide if you want to do it or not. If you arrive by car - there is a parking lot just at the entrance - payed parking - and you can pay your parking ticket by card too. Remember the parking is not included in the entrance fee. To sum it up - the Turda Salt mine it is special in many aspects - it is well organized to handle a great number of visitors and definitely worth a visit when you are in the area schedule a few hours to check it.

This salt mine definitely deserves a visit: a look at the heart of earth 100 meters underground. An amazing atmosphere that recalls something extraterrestrial. Such a wide breath breaking view that you could not expect!
