A hike

It's more interesting for the challenge. Depending on where you go up, it can be a stiff climb and very steep. Make sure to take you shoes off immediately as it makes the climb easier and take breaks. The view is okay but nothing overwhelming.

So this was what all the fuss was about
Jul. 2020
After more than a decade in France, I finally got to see what all the fuss was about. From the car park, you don't really expect such an immense dune to appear, as it literally does. It's so shockingly big that you almost feel as though you're in a desert once you finish the grueling climb to the top. To see the sea on one side and a forest on the other is just incongruous. I real natural wonder

Worth a visit

This dune is an interesting place facing the ocean and about one hundred meters high. It is not too hard to climb but it was rather windy when we went there and quite a few people climbed it. The view from the top is nice overlooking the ocean. We went there by bicycle which is convenient since it is easy to park close to the dune.

It's way busier than we thought but the view is worth it!
€6 minmum for the carpark though. But plenty of space.

WOW ... nice to do, nice view.
We stopped on the road and walked on the dune. The real adventure ... no stairs.
Take some water with you.

Must see once in your life. Great place for paragliding and watching sunsets. Feels a little bit like being in the desert.

A must!
Aug. 2019
If you are in the area, you must visit this place. The setting is almost surreal: it's a forest, lots of trees, and then all of a sudden lots and lots of sand! And not just sand, one of those Caribbean nice to the touch, almost white type of sand. And did I mention there is a lot of it? There is also a lot of people there too, so finding parking might take some time, as well as climbing those stairs to the top. But once you've reached the top, the view... is worth it.

AMAZING
Sep. 2019
It was a hard walk up (especially after a rather stodgy lunch!!!) but it was 100% worth it, the views out to the bay on one side and then the views of the top of the forest on the other... we have been meaning to visit for many years every we time we are in the Bordeaux area, but I am glad we finally bit the bullet and did it. We went mid week in September and it was relatively busy - I would imagine it could be quite unbearable in the peak summer season.....

Well worth the climb

Firstly do not let the thought of a climb put you off, there are stairs (honestly)

We were lucky in that it was a bit cloudy on our way up, but at the top the sun came out, and the views are excellent, from the forest behind you to Cap Ferret in front
