This place is great. I've visited a couple times and I'll definitely be going again. This house is full of so many surprises. Any time someone tells me they're traveling to the Pittsburgh area, I tell them they must visit the Bayernhof Museum!

Excellent entertaining tour. Took family from Chicago to visit. Jim was knowledgeable, funny and friendly. All of us enjoyed ourselves. Will tell all my friends of this hidden treasure of Pittsburgh. Plan to visit again with other friends and family.

This 1980's "castle" high on a bluff, has a commanding view of the Allegheny River Valley. The decor is over the top and eccentric. The collection of music machines, some well over 100 years old and the only remaining examples, are very interesting.

The tour has three intertwined segments...the house, the collections, and the people responsible for bringing them together. Our guide was marvelous at revealing each with a flair that had our whole group, ranging in age from 12 to 70+, highly entertained. Highly recmmend!

I'm glad we went. An insight to a man with a slight eccentric life. This is a two hour walk through tour. Some areas have narrow passageways and steps. There are a lot of large scale self playing musical instruments. $10 pet person. Park on...More

I was visiting Pittsburgh and my friend suggested the Bayernhof Museum. She mentioned it was a music box museum so I imagined small music boxes in an elegant old home. WOW! Words cannot describe this lesser known and amazing museum. The Bayernhof requires reservations and...More
