We parked up and took a stroll along La Corniche one evening after eating out in the town. (There is ample free parking in the area). This is a lovely place to walk along and chill out. The small beach area is lovely and very clean.

This is a must drive. Either direction has its beauty. You must park some where and walk along the trial by the sea to really experience the beauty of the Vendee.

La Corniche runs from Sion along the top of the cliffs to St Gilles Croix de Vie and can be traversed by road, cycle or on foot. The cliffs are not high but on a sunny day give a lovely big sky view of the rocky coast from St Jean de Monts to Bretignolles and on a clear day, the Ile de Yeu. Stop off at the Trou de Diable ( Devil's Hole ), a natural hole in the cliffs where as the tide rushes in the sea thunders in the cave and sends a spout of water several metres into the air - best when the sea is rough! On a sunny winter's day it's a bracing experience on foot or bike -I live nearby and it's a favourite experience.

This is a charming cycle ride when the sun is out. You can stop for an ice cream or drink at one of the many beaches en route

Been to this area numerous times this summer..even with summer crowds it's still possible to find a quiet little corner in the rocky beaches..low tide brings loads of rock pools for discovery..high tide brings clear water heated by the rocks..houses along the corniche are fabulous..from a different era or thoroughly modern..watch the yachts leave st gilles and head of on an adventure!

I wouldn't go out of my way to get here but it is scenic and free. If you do this on a bike be prepared for lots of walkers. Nice for a nice day.

Walking path on the corniche, which offers great views and very beautiful photo spots with very beautiful lighting (see photos). Very nice to do when it's not too windy
