This place sounds amazing but sadly we arrived and it was closed. We will definitely check ahead before we come next time.

We stayed in Orbetello last week and used the car park on the lagoon side. This a pretty and unspoiled historic area of Italy. The views are lovely, the water was still, and we were able to see across to the far side. No flamingoes at...More

One of the very few places in Europe to see hundreds of flamingos. A wild, almost untouched lagoon to discover, a lovely historical town with a bright past linked with Italo Balbo's flight to cross Atlantic 70 years ago. Restaurant, hotels, beaches are marevellous!

We rode our bikes to the beach which was sandy and very nice. We also took a boat ride around the lagoon to watch the sunset. It was a lovely day in Orbetello.

We did not stay in the area very long but still had time to see the views across the lagoon. The area is quite and is great for chilling and recharging the batteries.

I assume that Orbetello is a hive of activity in Summer and perhaps at weekends but in October it is rather quiet and deserted. It is nice to walk alongside the lagoon and contemplate nature
