On the way down the Vrsic pass, stop at the cabin (great cheese strudel) and walk to start of Soča river. Nice walk, at the end with help of cable. Beautiful color of the cave lake - source of Soča river.

This is an easy hike for most people and well worth the short time and some effort to make it to the spring area. The trail leaves a quaint, small service hut a few miles up from the visitor center in Trenta. It's an easy hike for the most part but at the spring itself you will need to negotiate a short traverse using iron cables along the rock face and above the stream. It's not difficult but could be a challenge for people who have a bit of a fear of heights. However, the exposure is minimal and people of average fitness can easily make the very short section using the cables. The amazing clarity of the spring that you will find at the end is well worth the effort. Upon descending, stop at the little snack shop for some authentic and reasonably priced Slovenian fare.

This is great piece of nature. The trip is very short and quite bit uphill. The final section is very difficult and secured by ropes. On top of that, it can get very busy which makes the final section pretty much undo-able. But the nature is very nice.

We actually started at the Izviru Soče and walked downstream, along the river and road to the town of Soce. It's an incredible walk (hike!). The views are stunning!! You should be aware though that the description of the trail is a bit "misleading". It is described as an easy-moderate "walk". This would be true if you were wearing hiking shoes and not sneakers. The trail is not particularly "hard", nor too steep. However, there is a lot of "up and down" and A LOT of tree roots that you have to navigate. I wouldn't do this long of a hike again without wearing hiking boots. If you were to start further upstream and simply walk to the Izviru Soče that's probably ok, but you are going uphill the entire way.
One other nice note, there is a bus that runs from the Izviru Soče all the way to Bovic and back, making many stops along the way. We parked our car at Izviru Soče and hiked to Soce and then took the bus back. The only problem is figuring out where the bus stops actually are!!

Take care when you get to the source. We walked from about half way along the Soca Valley. Around 5 hours there and back. Amazing. Really

Just a tip if you would like to take it easy and still enjoy the breathtaking scenery of the Soca river valley: take a train ride from Bled to Nova Gorica. It is only 1.5 hours by train and you see a lot of beautiful scenery of the mountains, nature and of course the emerald colours of the Soca river. Just before reaching Nova Gorica the train will cross the river and you will have a wonderful view of the river with an arched bridge across the river. Just a short time to take a photo that will take your breath away....

The short sharp walk up to the waterfall was great, followed by the slightly more technical (but easy with care) short route to the source. An interesting place, though basically just a deep pool at this time of year.

The blue pool at the end of the short via ferrata is amazing and the colour stunning. The water is freezing cold in the pool and it seems like the fairy realm.

After short wall up and little climbing (chains etc.) you reach the source...
it beautiful!
Nice trip even for very warm day, path is in shadow of the forest, you can refresh yourself in water of Soča.

This is a great short hike. It takes about 15 min from the Alpine hut to reach the source of the river. There's a turnoff to the end, to make sure you see the real thing remember that if you haven't climbed over rocks with the help of a rope, you haven't reached the source yet.
The scramble in the end can be a bit daunting if you're not used to hiking, but it's not dangerous; if you're careful and have sturdy shoes you will be fine. The source is quite beautiful. You see a crystal clear lake tucked into the rocks, from which the river trickles down.
Quite the sight to see
