About
The cellar Castello di Bolgheri dates back to 1796, when it was owned and built by the della Gherardesca family. Federico Zileri Dal Verme took over the family tradition in the mid 90's with the goal to produce wines that represent the highest expression of Bolgheri's terroir, in terms of complexity, elegance and longevity. From his passion, together with the great contribution of the company team, two labels are born: Castello di Bolgheri, DOC Bolgheri Superiore; and Varvàra, DOC Bolgheri, named after the Federico's great-grandmother. The cellar is located in the middle of the hamlet of Bolgheri and develops across two floors. On the first floor you will find the wine shop, where you can taste and buy the estate's products and learn about its ancient history. The lower floor is underground and divided into a vinification area with temperature-controlled steel tanks, and an area for ageing in wood with barriques, tonneaux and oak tanks.

A nice opportunity to taste the wind you saw growing next to the cedars approaching Bulgari. A pretty miedeval town with nice Resteraunt's.

Another visit to a winery arranged through our cruise ship. Very old winery with an enormous amount of history. Good wine, cheese and salamis.

Sound wine producer keeps the wineshop at the very entrance of the town and gives you the opportunity to buy the wine from the very first hand.

Staff were unhelpful, rude and dismissive. We were so excited to attend, but the staff showed no interest and left us feeling very disappointed and disrespected.
