We were staying nearby, and could not help but notice the noise in the mornings. Gibbons, it turns out are the very vocally appreciative of the new day! We decided to inspect closer and were greeted at the entrance by a very cheery lady and a dog the size of a Shetland pony! Not the aggressive type of huge dog... More

Went out of season as l had a free entry pass for four people, thought it would pass a couple of hours but l was quite surprised that we stayed for 5 hours. It was very enjoyable and my granddaughter got to handle a few small animals. The cafe was open for light meals, although we did take a picnic and the... More

Despite the slightly off-putting exterior we had a wonderful day here. A lovely variety of animals including a Scottish wild cat, lemurs, tapir, meerkats and lizards and tarantulas. The staff are all friendly and passionate about the animals, which are clearly very well cared for. The animal encounters are brilliant - we handled a snake and lizard. A giant tortoise... More

I've lived in Minehead for 24 years and drive past Tropiquaria every day to go to work and never been inside before now! Now I have two young children I decided to take them there, I have heard mixed reviews so I didn't have high expectations. We had a great day there, really interesting building and nice well kept animals.... More

We had a fantastic day yesterday at Tropiquaria despite it being a little cold and grey! The animal handling sessions are a brilliant opportunity for young and old and our kids and us enjoyed it just as much! It's true that the buildings and some of the equipment or enclosures could do with a bit of a revamp but that... More

Housed in an old transmission building and heated from the transmitters outside this has to be the strangest zoo I have ever visited. All animals look well cared for and the zoo keepers are knowledgeable and attentive. Great outdoor play activities for children. I'd come again, although is it odd.

Had a brilliant day. Lots of different animals to see and things to do. Kids loved the variety and was able to burn off lots of energy!

Being an old radio transmitter, it is perhaps not the most attractive building from the road, however it is an excellent day out. Having been recently on a cold and very wet day, there is still plenty to do without the otherwise excellent adventure playground. The handling sessions bring a smile to children, as does the puppet show, the aquarium... More

We visited Tropiquaria today with my 2 young sons ( aged 20 months and 5years) and grandparents. On arrival we didn't feel that the place looked very inviting and almost turned around again however decided to go in and were so glad that we did! What an unexpected gem of a place! Loads to do for the children, fantastic castle... More

This small animal zoo with a wonderful opportunity to have hands on experience of touching and holding animals in a friendly and safe environment was delightful for our two year old grand daughter. There was plenty to interest her, feeding animals, outside activities and she loved her freshly cooked fish finger lunch at the cafe. We will go again with... More
