Lovely, extensive gardens covering a large area. Good, well laid out walks with plenty of seating. Odd that the shop & cafe closed Fridays and Saturdays with an honesty box for visitor payment. Had a most enjoyable visit but would have liked coffee and a...More

Despite not generally liking guided tours, our guide Sue made our visit very special. She was very informed, chose interesting facts to tell us about and coped very well with interruptions by the Lady of the house, well, she does own it! Only regret, I...More

As others say, you can only go around the house with a guide which made a change for us. That makes it very personal but also variable - our guide was clearly keen on explaining the portraits but wasn't so knowledgable about other aspects. But...More

You can only view the house by guide only, normally we like to look around on our own but our guide was very interesting and informative and we learnt a lot. We did walk around all of the gardens which were lovely but a different...More

Great to see a historic house that is still lived in by its owners. Guide was a bit too focused on two children in the group which got a bit boring, hence only 4 stars.

A wonderful glimpse of history coupled with generous slices of knowledge and humour from our guide Karen. A real treat.

I had the pleasure of living relatively close for 7 years, and visited it frequently for aa lovely walk through the gardens and of course the cream tea. 3 or 4 hours sounds nice. Don't be in a hurry. It is really lovely!
