I have visited Liddington Castle in Swindon a few times. The walk around the castle is very good with views over Swindon and the surrounding area (But not recommended for people with any walking disabilities as the terrain is very steep)

I'd never heard of this place but after a quick Google search my boyfriend and I decided to go on an adventure. Fairly difficult to find as not very clearly signposted we parked just off the liddington crossroads and walked along the ridgeway. Its so peaceful and has beautiful views. Didn't see a single soul apart from a few sheep.... More

The kids were away, so the wife and I set off on an adventure of our own to find the mysterious Liddington Castle - which I happen to drive past on the way to work down the M4 every day, but I've never found before! One of the hidden gems of the Ridgeway (only 100 meters to the North of... More

From this commanding position on the ridgeway you really get a sense of how the ancient britons must have lived. The ridgeway stretches away into the distance on wither side and you can see Barbary Castle around 6 miles to the west. It's completely tranquil and the views are spectacular. An incredible spot to find just a short walk from... More

A great escape close to Swindon. Brilliant views, fresh air and space for the children to run. Close to the Ridgeway path and Waylands Smithy to make a full day of it.

If you're driving here, rather than calling in from the Ridgeway, you need to choose carefully where you park. There are a few spaces at the nearby Liddington crossroads but they require walking up alongside the main road, which is towards a blind summit and the cars come over it very fast. Walking up to the Castle requires navigating some... More

Liddington Castle is one of my favourite places to go and enjoy the silence, which occasionally gets broken with the hoot of an owl and the call of buzzards. Now and again I camp up there looking at the stars with a cup of hot chocolate forgetting about the 21st century. Please note that this is not a campsite and camping... More

I've always wanted to take a walk to the castle as I see the hill everyday on the way to work. Like others have said it's not the most obvious place to find given that there is no carpark. We parked in a lay by the b4192 (the end of the ridgeway road) which was 100m or so from the... More
