It is worth walking to the top of the castle for the view over the whole of Santorini. However, there is little of the castle left. We visited this place 50 years ago when it was still in ruins from the 1956 earthquake. When we visited this week it was interesting to see that a few areas of ruins remain but most has been tastefully rebuilt.

This is one village on Santorini which should not be missed. There is not that much of the castle still in existence but it is certainly worth walking up the narrow, winding streets, actually little more than passageways, to the top. At the top, there is the Agios War Memorial and wonderful views of the surrounding countryside. Parking, however, can be a bit of a problem. There is a car park but this gets busy in the summer season.

Again, here, you have to time your visit as it can be so crowded with three cruise ships in most days. Best to go late afternoon when they have left so it is much quieter. Brilliant views from the top. Quaint little alleyways and the odd bar for a break at the top.

We took a bus from Karterádhos to this charming village. We immediately started up to the castle, climbing the many stairs and ascents. But it was worth it, because the view from the top is amazing: you can see the whole island. We wandered through very atmospheric alleyways, it's a fabulous labyrinth.

We loved Pyrgos so much. It was our favourite bit of santorini. Well worth walking up to the castle and enjoying the wonderful views and twisty turny passageways. Particularly stunning at sunset. Would recommend rewarding yourself with a cocktail or lunch at Franco’s at the top.

This town is definitely worth going to. It's not obvious to me where the castle ruin was, but the main visit was the beautiful labyrinth going up to the peak (castle?). There's no boring moment for walking uphill to the peak for the beautiful view. The walk uphill was not difficult at all. t's simply beautiful exploring in the alleyways with small shops selling local artists products.

We visited on a Monday in June. We parked at one end of the village and walked back in and the up to the top. Plenty of tourist shops on the way up so easy to stop when you need to. We had a drink at Franco's cafe at the top. A nice place to visit and wasn't busy when we were there on a Monday mid morning.

Pyrgos is truly a magical and a charming village which should be visited while in Santorini. Traditional architecture, white houses, galleries, shops. We liked aimlessly wander the winding narrow streets. And as a bonus nearly without tourist. Compare to Fira or Oia it is heaven. Relaxing place. We just sit on the top of Kastleo, winding down and enjoyed the view and the atmosphere. To get here is about 20 minutes from Fira or Perissa beach.

Quite a climb up the steps to the top in the heat but really interesting going around the ancient Venetian castle. Restaurants and souvenir shops scattered around the top. If you are fine with heights go around the back end ruins with fantastic views but can be windy. Bus stop is at the bottom in the saquare back to Fira.

I visited this place for a while (1 hour) during a bus tour. It's a bit of walk and a nice place to see although there are other places in Santorini with more wow factors.

hi we are thinking of coming for the easter celebrations have you any vacancies we heard it can be busy ,,

Yes, Easter in Pyrgos is something special so I would recommend You contact the hotel of Your choice to check if they are open for the season and if they have any vacancies. (Season is mostly may-october). There are not that many hotels in Pyrgos itself , but the island is small so You may find accomodation somewhere in the neighbourhood.
