Overview
More
Terra Nova National Park is a place where long fingers of the North Atlantic Ocean touch the island boreal forest of Eastern Newfoundland. Rocky headlands provide shelter from the awesome power of the open ocean. The landscape of the park varies from the rugged cliffs and sheltered inlets of the coastal region to the rolling forested hills, bogs and ponds of the inland. Cultural history abounds in the remnants of sawmills and past human cultures.

Begin at the Visitors Center to watch a short film and go into the room with the touch tank where you can view and touch various sea creatures. The kids love it. You can rent kayaks and walk hiking trails. The scenery is breathtaking! It...More

We only visited for the day to walk some of the trails. Visitor centre was full of information but the campsite trail lacked adequate signage. The coastal trail was good but since you're in dense forest you didn't se much of the water.

At Ochre Point there is and intriguing and easy trail that wraps around a small pond (bring the bug spray in warmer weather). There is also a great lookout (especially on a clear day) that is easy to access and offers incredible views. We were...More

It took us an hour and 15 minutes to do this moderate hike and the payoff at the end is SO WORTH IT! Absolutely stunning views of the ocean and trees. My phone died before we got to the end so my pictures don't show...More

Well, I drove 'through' Terra Nova National Park on Canadian Highway One while on the way to Twillingate and back, and there are thousands of evergreens as far as you can see. If I were more of the camping or fishing type, it would be...More

The park is simply beautiful. We spend a morning around the visitor centre area and did the Heritage trail. Looking across the lake, watching a few people canoeing was very relaxing. The kids (aged 2 and 4) really enjoyed the exhibit at the visitor centre...More

Terra Nova National Park is Canada's most easterly national park and Newman Sound is a large beautiful campground found within the park. Sites are large and private with trees and shrubs that are so dense you can't see your neighbour. Beware though not all sites...More

We stopped here for a couple of hours on our way back to St John’s from Gros Morne. This national park is more compact and much easier to see things. With one sprained ankle we didn’t want to hike too far but from our three...More
